McDonald’s has always been a big fan of Pokemon, likely because it makes them a boat load of money, and so it should, because the demand for Pokemon is only increasing over the years.
It feels like yesterday when their collaboration ended, but it’s back and it’s coming in August, in fact it’s already happening in some cities across Germany and Austria.
According to Pokebeach this McDonald’s promotion will start worldwide this month, likely startong around the 23rd August in the UK and USA.
Like recent promotions there will be 15 limited edition cards to collect six of them being holo cards featuring Fuecoco, Quacly, Sprigatito, Cetitan, Klawf and the infamous Pikachu.
These holographic border cards are the first time they have appeared in any McDonald’s promotional meals.
Each Pokemon Happy Meal comes in the signature Pikachu box, your meal (obviously), a booster pack, and a toy. Each booster pack comes with four promotional cards, one being a holographic card.
This year’s toy will be a “Match & Battle Toy”, which can be used to play with the cards, you simply spin in to see which side of the toy it lands on. The instructions are also in the happy meals.
You can also scan the featured QR codes to get more information on how to play.
It seems that Pokemon are really trying to push the 3 brand new starters on the younger audience to promote their current games alongside the upcoming DLC which will drop later this year too.
There’s no doubt this promotion will do wonders for both franchises, and even though these aren’t gold Pokemon cards, or even rare cards for that matter, I can still see McDonald’s collectors wanting to get their hands on these. Especially the holo Pikachu!
