According to the website PokéBeach, a new Pokémon TCG promotion is coming soon! “Dragon Discovery,” a set of promo cards for McDonald’s restaurant chains, originally appeared in Europe. Now it’s due to arrive in the United States quite soon.

From January 21st through February 24th, you can acquire cards from “Dragon Discovery” at your local US-based McDonald’s eatery. The Happy Meals feature one of four boxes, each with a Dragon-type Pokémon (or Charizard) adorning them.

As for the cards inside, McDonald’s restaurants in France already received this promotion, and therefore they can tell use what’s likely inside this promotion for the US, Austria, and New Zealand, all of whom are getting this promotion:

Regarding the list of promo cards in “Dragon Discovery”, PokéBeach goes on to state:

The full set list is as follows:

  • #001: Charizard
  • #002: Pikachu (holo)
  • #003: Miraidon (holo)
  • #004: Jigglypuff
  • #005: Hatenna
  • #006: Dragapult
  • #007: Quagsire
  • #008: Koraidon (holo)
  • #009: Umbreon
  • #010: Hydreigon (holo)
  • #011: Roaring Moon (holo)
  • #012: Dragonite (holo)
  • #013: Eevee
  • #014: Rayquaza
  • #015: Drampa (holo)

As you can see, of the fifteen possible Pokémon TCG cards you can open in the four-card promotional packs, eight of them are, in fact, Dragon-type Pokémon. While this seems like a low count for a Dragon-type thematic promotion, Eevee and Pikachu are big sellers for many, and therefore the business model needs to be upkept.

In addition to the promo cards, the “Dragon Discovery” Happy Meal also comes with a double-sided poster and stickers used to complete it.

In promotions past, scalpers notably have scoured McDonald’s chains for Pokémon TCG promo cards. Therefore, if you’re one of those in this promotion’s target demographic, you should plan accordingly! This is also true of the next set to come out, Prismatic Evolutions. Inventory shortages are exacerbating this, so keep aware of this as well.

In any case, are you excited for this promotion? Which Pokémon TCG card are you most excited to try to acquire for yourself?
