Introduced in Star Wars Unlimited set, Legends of the Force, the Force is a mechanic that expands the game in numerous interesting ways, perhaps unsurprisingly given the set’s name. There’s an impressive number of cards that use the Force in some way, but how exactly does it work? Let’s find out!

ToggleHow to “Create” a Force Token in Star Wars Unlimited

In order to use the Force in Star Wars Unlimited, you first have to “create” a Force token. Quite a few cards will do this as a result of performing a certain action; as an example, the sole purpose of the Directed by the Force event card (shown above) is to create a Force token. When you create a Force token, you simply take a Force token and keep it face up in your play area:

Once you have the Force token, the Force is with you! Then of course, as Obi-Wan Kenobi would tell you: “Use the Force!”
Using the Force in Star Wars Unlimited

Just as there are a wide range of methods to create a Force token in Star Wars Unlimited, there’s also an impressive variety of ways to benefit from actually using the Force. In the image above, for example, you can use the Oppo Rancisis unit card to attack; with the Jedi Temple Base card in play, you can the create a Force token. The Obi-Wan Kenobi leader card, as his action, can exhaust and use the Force to give an Experience token to a unit which doesn’t already have one.
When you use the Force, you lose (that is, you remove from play) the Force token. Of course, as long as you still have Oppo Rancisis, on your next turn you can attack with him again, thus creating another Force token and setting in motion the plan to give another unit an Experience token, or even for you to use another card’s Force ability!
So there you have it; that’s exactly how you can create and use the Force. Check out our other Star Wars Unlimited guides, such as how to use the Hidden keyword, and how Bounty and Smuggle work in Star Wars Unlimited.
