The ninth set for Lorcana, Fabled, is somewhat of a relaunch, or perhaps a recalibration, for the Disney-themed trading card game. It’s designed to be a jumping on point for new players, with a large number of the 204 cards in Fabled’s main set being reprints of from the first four Lorcana sets. However, that’s not to say that there aren’t exciting new cards in Fabled, and one in particular seems to have caught the attention of longer term Lorcana players already. Let’s check out Dumbo, Ninth Wonder of the Universe!

ToggleWhy is Dumbo, Ninth Wonder of the Universe So Exciting?

If you’re already familiar with Disney Lorcana, you’ll know that securing victory is a case of reaching 20 Llre points. Lore is generated by questing, leaving your characters exerted and open to being challenged (which can destroy them).
Dumbo, Ninth Wonder of the Universe has the excellent Evasive keyword, meaning that he can only be challenged by opposing players who also have Evasive. To add to this, Dumbo is also a card that can generate lore without questing, and though that’s nothing new, a closer look at his abilities reveals what has Lorcana fans so excited about this particular glimmer card. With the ability Breaking Records, if you exert Dumbo and pay 1 ink, you can both draw a card and gain 1 point of lore.
So far, so standard; Dumbo is able to generate lore himself, as well as give his owner an extra card, once per turn. Yet Dumbo’s other ability, Making History, is where the excitement truly begins. If you have other characters in play with Evasive, they all gain the Breaking Records ability, meaning each one can get you an extra card and point of lore if you pay 1 ink and exert them. Building a deck around this ability is very likely to be a very popular strategy in Lorcana, as of the release of Fabled!
Is Dumbo, Ninth Wonder of the Universe Hard to Find?

So, in theory you should just get the maximum four copies of Dumbo, Ninth Wonder of the Universe, for your Lorcana deck, then build the rest of your deck around those. Right? Except the interest around the Dumbo card has pushed its price sky-high, even for the non-Enchanted version.
The standard version of Dumbo, Ninth Wonder of the Universe is at the Legendary rarity level, and you can expect to find a Legendary card at the rate of roughly 1 in every 5 Disney Lorcana booster packs. Of course, that doesn’t mean that the Legendary card you’ll find will specifically be Dumbo, so you’re likely to need to buy an awful lot of booster packs just to find a single Dumbo card. If you’re looking to avoid that and just buy Dumbo as a single card, you can do so from sites such as TCGplayer, but as we’ve already mentioned, be prepared to pay a lot for this card!
It’s even more costly if you want the Enchanted version of the card, which we’ve shown above. Though it’s undeniably gorgeous, it’ll set you back an awful lot of cash to get your hands on it; unsurprising given that Enchanted cards are only found at the rate of 1 in every 72 Lorcana booster packs!
Check out our Fabled card list; with only 33 new cards in the 204 card set, it’s not the most exciting set for longer term fans of Lorcana, but it does mean that newcomers will be able to get their hands on staple cards from the game’s first sets, and in a way that ensures they remain legal for organized play.
