The Pokémon Company International have just announced the latest set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (or TCG). With a strong focus on Fire and Darkness type Pokémon, the latest Mega Evolution set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game has been revealed as Phantasmal Flames. Let’s see what we know about it so far!

ToggleWhat’s New in Phantasmal Flames?

The second set for the Mega Evolution era of the Pokémon TCG, Phantasmal Flames will introduce even more Mega Evolution Pokémon to fans. Mega Charizard X and Mega Gengar will be the stars of the set, but there will also be new Pokémon ex cards, some of which will be making their first appearance in the Mega Evolution series.
The new art style for the ultra rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex will also be returning; these are special cards that may feature a silhouette of the regular version of the relevant Pokémon in the illustration’s background.
The set will feature a total of 6 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and another 4 Pokémon ex too. Collectors will want to keep a lookout for the 13 illustration rare Pokémon that’ll appear in Phantasmal Flames, the 17 ultra rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, Trainer and Energy cards, and finally the 5 special illustration rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and Supporter cards too!
When Will Phantasmal Flames Be Released?

The release date for the Pokémon TCG’s Mega Evolution: Phantasmal Flames set has been revealed as November 14th, 2025.
As is generally the case with new set launches, players will have the opportunity to get their hands on, and play with, Mega Evolutin: Phantasmal Flames cards prior to launch, by attending their local Prerelease tournament, which are held as part of the Play! Pokémon program. These are set to take place from the 1st of November, 2025, at participating independent retailers and organized play groups.
Players will also be able to get their hands on the set digitally, ahead of the release of the physical version, as Mega Evolution: Phantasmal Flames will be available digitally from the 13th November, 2025, via the Pokémon TCG Live app ( which itself is available for iOS, Android, macOS and Windows devices).
