We’ve all done it, haven’t we? We’ve found cards in whatever TCG we’re playing, and we’ve wanted to modify them just a bit to fit in with our strategy, or even just create a card out of thin air that would work perfectly alongside it. Well, the creators of digital card game Ariokan have definitely had those thoughts too, and in their game, it’s actually possible to create your own meta-breaking cards! Let’s take a closer look at Ariokan.

ToggleWhat is Ariokan?

A digital TCG, Ariokan is an online game in which the big, unique selling point is that players can create their own cards. These cards then become part of the game’s universe, with the cards themselves evolving the game of Ariokan over time, and players having a big hand in the direction it goes. Creating abilities, combos and even characters isn’t just allowed in Ariokan, it’s actively encouraged and a big part of the game’s appeal.
According to the press release from Fatum Games; “Card games have always been about strategy and creativity, but too often players are forced into playing the same decks over and over especially if they want to compete.” say Paolo “Riku” Abela, Nicolò OcaLoca” Comi, and Umberto “BeatOnThePrat” Pellegrini, co-founders at Fatum Games. “With Ariokan, we’re giving the power back to the players. Every card you make is playable and part of the game’s living universe. We can’t wait to see what people invent once they get their hands on the editor.”
When Can I Play Ariokan?

Though more than a thousand players have gained access to Ariokan’s closed beta, the operative word there is “closed”. So if you’re not already part of that, there’s currently no way to try Ariokan’s unique card creation gameplay for yourself.
However, Fatum Games are opening up the beta to more players as part of the rewards for Ariokan’s Kickstarter campaign. As the aforementioned press release states, “Ariokan will be live on Kickstarter from Sept. 23rd for 30 days. Rewards start from $25 for the closed beta access, and additional Kickstarter exclusive rewards include, exclusive card backs, booster packs, and even creating your own Legend or God.” So if you want to be a part of the future of Ariokan, go check out the Kickstarter and join the campaign yourself!
Otherwise, Ariokan is planned to launch on Steam in the first quarter of 2026, and you can add it to your wishlist using the button below:
