The Scarlet & Violet era of Pokémon has ended, and the Mega Evolution era has begun. True to form, the first set of the Mega Evolution series shares its name; let’s take a look at the most valuable Mega Evolution Pokémon cards.
10. Marshadow – Illustration Rare, 146/132
Kicking off the list of the most valuable Mega Evolution Pokémon cards is an Illustration Rare variant of Marshadow. Though it may seem like an unusual Pokémon to make it to the list of the most valuable cards in the set, take a peek at the bottom of the card. Yes, that’s Pikachu sneaking in there, and literally casting a shadow over the cards’ titular Pokémon, which also factors into its attack!
9. Mega Absol ex – Special Illustration Rare, 180/132
Looking like a dark vigilante, perching on a rooftop with the wind blowing at just the right angle, this Mega Absol ex card is nicely moody and atmospheric. It’s a great showcase for the Mega ex version of Absol, and it’s no wonder that this particular Special Illustration Rare variant of the card has quickly become so sought after!
8. Mega Kangaskhan ex – Special Illustration Rare, 182/132
Going from the superhero noir-esque ambience of the Mega Absol ex to the fun, vibrant Mega Kangaskhan ex card is quite the tonal shft. The crisscrossing, colorful lines across the card give it a very dynamic, action-packed feel, and you’ll see this style pop up numerous times in the set, and this list too!
7. Lillie’s Determination – Special Illustration Rare, 184/132
A lavishly illustrated Supporter card featuring a Pokémon Trainer always makes it onto the list of the most valuable cards in any given set, so it’s no surprise to see this Special Illustration Rare variant of Lillie’s determination popping up here.
6. Mega Venusaur ex – Special Illustration Rare, 177/132
An almost neon-style color scheme gives this Mega Venusaur ex, with those aforementioned streaks of color, a truly striking look, along with its great use of light and shade. With this being a Special Illustration Rare, the card is even more striking in person too!
5. Mega Latias ex – Special Illustration Rare, 181/132
The bold blocks of color of Mega Venusaur ex are a real contrast to the scratchy, pencil-style action scene featured on this Mega Latias ex card. It’s no surprise to see this stunning work of art make it onto the list of the most valuable Mega Evolution cards!
4. Mega Lucario ex – Special Illustration Rare, 179/132
Another card with artwork rendered in that action packed style, Mega Lucario ex’s Special Illustration Rare variant sees the titular Pokémon taking on Venusaur, high above a city backdrop.
3. Mega Gardevoir ex – Special Illustration Rare, 178/132
In my humble opinion, this Mega Gardevoir ex is the most beautiful card in the Mega Evolution set. It’s worth noting that it’s only been beaten to the top spot by two rarer variants, one of which is another version of the Mega Gardevoir ex!
2. Mega Gardevoir ex – Holo Rare, 187/132
Here it is, the aforementioned Mega Gardevoir ex, here in its Holo Rare form. This means that it’s a gold colored, foil treated, fully textured card. Holo Rares don’t always make it to the top of the lists of most valuable cards, but perhaps Mega Evolution will see them becoming much more sought after!
1. Mega Lucario ex – Holo Rare, 188/132
Finally, another Holo Rare variant; this time, it’s a different version of the Mega Lucario ex. It’s a spectacular card, and it’s no wonder that fans are clamoring to get their hands on this card, which is the most valuable Pokémon card in the Mega Evolution set!
