Japanese Pokémon set, Storm Emeralda, is now in the hands of eager fans. With a new card type, as you’ll soon see, the latest set for the Mega Evolution era of Pokémon is pretty exciting! With that in mind, let’s take a look at the most valuable cards in the Storm Emeralda set.
10. Legendary Lava Tube (2 Card Set) – Uncommon, 75/76 and 76/76
We were just saying that Storm Emeralda introduces a new card type, and here it is! Kicking off the list of the most valuable cards in Storm Emeralda, this entry is a bit of a cheat as it’s two separate cards. That’s because in Storm Emeralda, there are Stadiums which are split across two cards, and can only be used if they’re played at the same time. Exciting stuff, right? It seems that sellers are finding both cards and selling them as a pair, which is useful for both collectors and players!
9. Tate & Liza’s Training – Super Rare, 103/76
Twins Tate and Liza are the Gym Leaders in Mossdeep City. They debuted way back in 2002 in the video games Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, and have popped up in numerous games ever since. Given how prolific they are in the video games, as well as making appearances in the animated Pokémon series, it’s no surprise that their Super Rare variant appears on this list!
8. Zinnia’s Trust – Super Rare, 102/76
a pivotal character in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Zinnia uses Dragon-type Pokémon in battle. She can even evolve her Salamence into a Mega Salamence, as she is in possession of the Mega Anklet! An interesting fact about Zinnia: she is the only Trainer in Pokémon to be classified as a Lorekeeper.
7. Kyogre – Art Rare, 80/76
The Legendary Pokémon from the video game Pokémon Sapphire, Kyogre appears here in an absolutely stunning work of art. Kyogre has always been an impressive Pokémon, but arguably never more so than in this powerful depiction!
6. Kecleon – Art Rare, 88/76
Probably our favorite card in Storm Emeralda overall, this Art Rare variant of Kecleon is aesthetically gorgeous and hilarious. After all, who wouldn’t find it amusing to see a Kecleon, in its natural habitat, pole dancing on a vine like no one’s watching?
5. Mega Golurk ex – Super Rare, 93/76
Unlike many of the other cards we’ve already featured, Mega Golurk is a very recent addition to Pokémon. Though Golurk itself has been around since fifth generation games Pokémon Black and White, Mega Golurk wasn’t introduced until the release of the Mega Dimension DLC, for Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
4. Groudon – Art Rare, 84/76
Alongside Kyogre, Groudon was the was other Legendary Pokémon introduced in third generation games, Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Specifically the Legendary Pokémon for fans who played Pokémon Ruby, and its remake, Pokémon Omega Ruby, Groudon is a huge, ancient creature who looks very menacing being covered in lava on this card!
3. Raikou ex – Special Art Rare, 108/76
One of the coolest things about the size and depth of the Pokédex in the Pokémon games is just how much diversity there is. We can go from a silly little guy pole dancing in the jungle to a menacing, deadly looking electric beast like Raikou in a heartbeat!
2. Mega Rayquaza ex – Super Rare, 95/76
The undoubted star of the Storm Emeralda set is Mega Rayquaza ex. First appearing in Pokémon Emerald as Generation III’s third Legendary Pokémon alongside Groudon and Kyogre, Rayquaza has been a popular, powerful Pokémon for over two decades!
1. Mega Rayquaza ex – Special Art Rare, 110/76
The most valuable card overall for Storm Emeralda is this Special Art Rare variant of Mega Rayquaza ex. At the time of writing, it’s not far off being 10 times the value of the Mega Rayquaza ex in the number 2 slot here, which is incredible. If you pull this card from a Storm Emeralda pack, you know you’ve hit the jackpot!
