MTG Spider-Man Most Valuable Cards

It’s fair to say that the franchise-spanningUniverses Beyond sets for Magic: The Gathering have proven divisive amongst long term MTG players. However, there’s no denying that they have brought a lot of attention, and new fans, into the game. The latest Universes Beyond set focuses on the heroes, villains, objects and settings of Marvel’s Spider-Man, and there’s been plenty of excitement amongst new fans and collectors for the set. Which cards are the most valuable in the MTG Marvel’s Spider-Man set? Let’s find out!

10. Peter Parker (Borderless) – Rare, 232

The first card on this list is an absolute stunner, with truly iconic artwork from Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko, ripped straight from the original comics, on one side, and the cover of The Amazing Spider-Man #1 on the reverse. Albeit also containing all of the stats and details needed for it to be used in your MTG game, in the exact style of the original cover. Though Spider-Man’s full first appearance and origin is in Amazing Fantasy #15 (and is definitely the more iconic cover), the cover of Amazing Spider-Man #1, featuring the Fantastic Four, is very cool in its own right.

9. Eddie Brock (Borderless) – Mythic Rare, 233

Just as we saw iconic art from the comics with the Peter Parker card, so too do we get that with this Eddie Brock card, which features art by Todd McFarlane (with Bob Sharen). On its reverse side, you’ll find the brilliant and equally iconic cover of Venom: Lethal Protector #1, by Mark Bagley, in playable (if not particularly legible) form as an MTG card.

8. Spectacular Spider-Man (Borderless, Textured Foil) – Rare, 237

Kicking off a sequence full of alternate Spider-Suits, this Spectacular Spider-Man card features the Spider-Armor MK I. Despite only featuring in a single issue of the comic (Web of Spider-Man #100 to be exact), as it was destroyed soon after debuting, it’s been a popular alternate skin in many video games over the years. So let’s check out what other alternate Spider-Suits made it to the list of the most valuable Marvel’s Spider-Man cards!

7. Spectacular Spider-Man (Borderless, Textured Foil) – Rare, 239

The 90s were a super weird time for Spider-Man, or rather for the man behind the mask; though the incredibly convoluted and ridiculous Clone Saga ran for more than two years, with one terrible twist following another, the basis of it, in its simplest terms, was that Peter Parker found out that he was actually a clone, and that a man named Ben Reilly was the “real”, “original” Spider-Man. The Sensational Suit is from that era, and you’ll find Ben Reilly underneath that mask, rather than Peter Parker!

6. Spectacular Spider-Man (Borderless, Textured Foil) – Rare, 241

Did you know that Spider-Man once joined the Fantastic Four, when they became the Future Foundation? If not, now you do, and this card depicts him in his underrated, white and black Future Foundation suit!

5. Spectacular Spider-Man (Borderless, Textured Foil) – Rare, 235

Spidey’s Black Suit will always hold a special place in my heart, despite the fact that it eventually evolved into the Venom Symbiote (with some help from the previously seen Eddie Brock!). That’s because it was introduced at a time when I was just discovering Marvel Comics, and it felt like an incredibly cool and modern take on Spider-Man, who has since (mostly) maintained a look which more closely resembles the original suit from the 60s.

4. Spectacular Spider-Man (Borderless, Textured Foil) – Rare, 240

At first glance, you could be forgiven for thinking that this variant of the Spectacular Spider-Man card features the classic incarnation of the iconic suit. Upon closer inspection, you can see that this is, in fact, the Six-Arrmed Spider-Man! Weird, right?

3. Spectacular Spider-Man (Borderless, Textured Foil) – Rare, 236

The one time you get separated from an alien symbiote, and forced to wear a bag on your head to protect your identity (while wearing a suit borrowed from the Fantastic Four), it becomes a decades-long joke which has appeared in a surprising number of video games. And now, in Magic: The Gathering too! Poor Peter Parker.

2. The Soul Stone (Borderless) – Mythic Rare, 243

One of the Infinity Gems that Thanos collected during the massive 90s crossover, The Inifnity Gauntlet, the Soul Stone is perhaps better known to non-comics readers from the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. It’s a really powerful card in MTG, and one that is likely going to be highly sought after even in its less scarce forms,.

1. The Soul Stone (Cosmic Foil) – Mythic Rare, 242

It’s a bit odd that the rarest variant of The Soul Stone isn’t serialized (that is, with a limited, numbered print run which is emblazoned on each individual copy of the card), when so many Universes Beyond sets have featured serialized cards. However, Wizards of the Coast have stated that not only can this card only be found in Collector Booster packs, but also that it only appears in less than 1% of Collector Boosters overall. So of course, it’s quite the chase card for fans! Which explains its position as the most valuable card overall in the MTG Marvel’s Spider-Man set.
