10 Most Valuable Start Deck 100 Battle Collection Japanese Pokémon Cards

Unique Japanese Pokémon set, Start Deck 100, is here. Which are the most valuable cards in the set? Let's find out!
Start Deck 100 Most Valuable cards

The Start Deck 100 Battle Collection set feels like a truly unique proposition for Pokémon. No boosters are available, and instead you buy a random deck, with the contents of the box being 1 of 100 fixed decks from the set. There’s also a “secret” deck which features 3 Mega cards, and even one with a variant, gold Mega Charizard Y ex. With this being such an unusual set, what are the most valuable cards available for it right now? Let’s find out, as we check out the most valuable Start Deck 100 Battle Collection Pokémon cards!

A unique set begets a unique list; normally, you’ll see lists of the most valuable Pokémon cards in any given set filled with alternate art and special foil treated cards. That’s not the case here, with 742 cards in the core set for Start Deck 100, and a very different approach to rarity. Which means that even standard ex cards, such as this Mega Emboar ex, can make it onto the list of the most valuable cards!

9. Incineroar ex – 132/742

The same goes for this Incineroar ex; usually, you wouldn’t expect to see a standard card of this nature on a list of the most valuable cards in a set, but this is no ordinary set! With 1 of 101 (perhaps even 102 if you count the gold Charizard variant) decks to potentially discover in any given pack, there’s definitely a big difference in what Start Deck 100 offers.

8. Mega Meganium ex – Mirror Holo, 018/742

Though this may look like a “normal” card, it’s the Mirror Holofoil version of the Mega Meganium ex which is currently commanding the higher price to put it on this list!

7. Erika’s Tangela – 743/742

Here we have the first example of what we’d normally consider a “Secret Rare” in a Pokémon set. Its card number is higher than the number of cards in the set (in a set of 742 cards, this is 743), so you know it’s an alternate art variant of an existing card.

6. Mega Charizard Y ex – Mirror Holo, 085/742

It’s perhaps odd that the gold Mega Charizard Y ex hasn’t made it onto this list, but that’s almost certainly due to the “secret” deck’s scarcity. Instead, we have the Mirror Holo variant of the card here.

5. Eevee – 755/742

A gorgeous, alternate art variant of the perennially popular Eevee, this is exactly the type of card which usually fills up lists of the most valuable Pokémon cards!

4. Salazzle – 744/742

Salazzle is an unusual Pokémon to find on a list of the most valuable Pokémon cards, but nothing seems particularly standard about this set! In fact, the demand and supply of the set’s cards is fluctuating so much that we could well create an entirely different list if we were to revisit it at some point in the future. Which is very rarely the case!

3. Boss’s Orders – 760/742

Boss’s Orders is such an iconic and near essential staple for any deck, but we don’t often see it make an appearance on lists of the most valuable cards. That said, with its alternate, full art variant here, it’s definitely a really good example of Boss’s Orders!

2. Mega Meganium ex – 761/742

One of the “secret” decks features the alternate art variants of Mega Meganium ex (this card specifically), Mega Emboar ex (which isn’t on this list) and Mega Feraligatr ex (which you’re about to see!). So i’s no wonder that this card is so highly ranked on the list of the most valuable Start Deck 100 cards!

Finally, here’s the Mega Feraligatr ex we just revealed that you’d see! As one of the three featured cards in the secret 101st deck, this gorgeous, alternate art variant is definitely one that fans are incredibly keen to get their hands on.
