Here at Card Gamer, we often look at the most valuable cards in a specific set, for any given trading card game (or TCG). That got us thinking: what are the most valuable cards overall, by current market price, in any specific game? From there, it got us wondering what the most valuable cards are overall, for any TCG! We checked out the current asking prices for all cards on TCGplayer, and the results may surprise you. Note that yes, we’re aware of many more cards selling for much higher prices than these, but the ones featured are currently the cards with the highest listed market prices on TCGplayer. So without any further ado, let’s check out the most valuable TCG cards of 2025!
Table of Contents
Toggle10. Magic: The Gathering: Mox Ruby – Rare

It’s fitting that we open our list of the most valuable TCG cards with one from the original TCG, Magic: The Gathering. The Mox cards each allow players a free Mana in a specific color; the Mox Ruby grants its owner a Red mana. These ridiculously powerful, zero cost cards could secure victory for clever players from turn one, so it’s no wonder they’re absolutely legendary in the game. This version of the card, from the Unlimited set (reprinting the very first MTG set in 1993), now commands very high prices, securing its place here.
9. One Piece Card Game: Gol D. Roger (Manga) – Secret Rare

From the oldest TCG to one of the newest, here we have a card from the One Piece Card Game, which recently celebrated its third anniversary. This card, from the Emperors in the New World set, features the legendary pirate Gol D. Roger, whose execution and declaration regarding his treasure (the One Piece of the title) is the main catalyst for the entire saga.
8. One Piece Card Game: Monkey D. Luffy (Alt Art Manga) – Secret Rare

Gol D. Roger’s card isn’t alone, as here we have One Piece protagonist Monkey D. Luffy on another Manga variant card. Though Gol D. Roger’s manga card on this list has a gold background, the majority of the manga variants in the One Piece Card Game feature black and white panels from the original One Piece manga in the background, just like on this Monkey D. Luffy card.
7. Magic: The Gathering: Cloud, Midgar Mercenary – Promo

The Final Fantasy Magic: The Gathering set was a huge success, with eager fans desperate to get their hands on unique cards featuring their favorite characters from the long running video game series. With 1997 game Final Fantasy VII still being among the most popular and acclaimed titles in the series, we aren’t shocked to see its main protagonist, Cloud Strife, featuring as one of the most valuable TCG cards! With this card being a promo earned from competitive events on the Pro Tour, it’s naturally far harder to come by than usual, making it highly desirable and expensive for fans to get their hands on!
6. Magic: The Gathering: Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer – Promo

Much like the Cloud card, Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer is a prize Promo variant, making it extremely difficult to get hold of. Ragavan is a popular Monkey Pirate who’s appeared on numerous MTG cards, across various sets, but this one is arguably the most striking of them all, in terms of its art. Other Ragavan cards are very cheap in comparison, but this one will definitely break the bank if you’re a Monkey Pirate completist!
5. Magic: The Gathering: Mox Sapphire – Rare

Another Mox card, from the same set and the same cycle of cards as the Mox Ruby, this Mox Sapphire does functionally the same thing as the previous card, except it adds blue mana to your pool, not red. Again, with this card being zero cost and giving free mana too, it’s a bit of a game-breaker, and commands very high prices these days!
4. Yu-Gi-Oh!: Dark End Dragon – Ultra Rare

For the last 25 years, there have been three major TCGs: Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh!, collectively known as the “Big Three” of TCGs. Though Magic: The Gathering is very well represented on this list, it’s perhaps odd that this is the first and only other card from the Big Three games to feature. As another prize card, Dark End Dragon is not one you can find in Yu-Gi-Oh! booster packs, which explains why its so desirable, and expensive, for fans to acquire!
3. Magic: The Gathering: Traveling Chocobo (Borderless, Japanese) – Mythic Rare

The Traveling Chocobo variant cards are all among the most valuable cards in the Final Fantasy MTG set, so it’s no surprise that this black version is here. Particularly as this color variant is exclusive to the Japanese Final Fantasy set, making it much harder to find for Western fans of MTG and Final Fantasy!
2. World of Warcraft TCG: Spectral Tiger – Loot Card

Though many of the cards on this list are not surprising to see, given their scarcity and the overall, ongoing popularity of the games they’re from, this one is a real shock. A card from the long-out of print World of Warcraft TCG, Spectral Tiger is an outlier even amongst other Loot cards from the game. Is its presence here indicative of a few sellers pumping up the price? Perhaps, because it’s very odd that it’d be so highly valued, for a game which first launched 20 years ago, ended in 2013 and hasn’t really seen an enormous amount of interest from collectors in the years since is was discontinued.
1. Magic: The Gathering: The Soul Stone (Cosmic Foil) – Mythic Rare

Though it isn’t a serialized, numbered card, this variant of The Soul Stone from the MTG Marvel’s Spider-Man set is so scarce that prices are reaching ridiculous levels right now. Wizards of the Coast haven’t disclosed its pull rate, but we do know that it appears in less than 1% of Collector Booster packs. Of course, that could mean that it appears in 0.5% of packs, or that it’s in 0.000001% of packs! Regardless of that, its scarcity means that it’s currently the highest priced TCG card on the market!
Check out our lists of the most valuable MTG Final Fantasy and most valuable Marvel’s Spider-Man cards for more insight as to what cards are the most sought after in those sets!
