Spin Master and Universal have collaborated with the gaming veterans at Ghost Galaxy to create horror-themed TCG, Hellbreak. Due to launch worldwide in Fall 2026, Hellbreak will see each player in the role of a monster seeking to defeat their opponent in combat.

With Universal being part of the collaboration, you’d expect that we’ll be seeing the famous Universal Monsters characters, and that will definitely be the case. However, of the details revealed so far, we know that we’re going beyond characters such as Dracula and the Bride of Frankenstein; the starter set shown above, for example, is Jaws vs Dracula! So it seems that any horror themed character owned by Universal could make an appearance in Hellbreak.

ToggleWhat is the First Set For Hellbreak Called?

Dawn of Terror is the name of Hellbreak’s debut set. The booster box for the game can be seen above; each box contains 24 booster packs. We don’t yet know anything about card rarities or much more beyond the fact that boosters will contain 13 cards, with each pack having 1 foil and 1 borderless art card. Of course the characters on the packs do hold some clues: the aforementioned Dracula, the Bride, Jaws and Death Angels (the alien antagonists from the A Quiet Place movies).

Booster bundles will also be available; not only do these contain 9 booster packs, but also accessories such as a deluxe card box, an initiative challenge coin and an exclusive foil card to add to your collection.
Speculation is rife as to which other monsters may be appearing in Hellbreak; with Universal having access to characters such as Chucky (from the Child’s Play movies and Chucky series), Michael Myers from Halloween and many more, as well as several classic Universal Monsters such as the Wolf Man, The Invisible Man or the Gillman from Creature from the Black Lagoon, the possibilities are very exciting. You can learn to play Hellbreak right now, with quick start rules available at the game’s official website.
When Will Hellbreak: Dawn of Terror Be Released?
Spin Master and Universal have teamed with Asmodee to publish Hellbreak in the UK and Ireland, though US publishing will be handled by Spin Master themselves. The game will be releasing in October 2026, perfectly timed for Halloween! Of course, as soon as we have more information, we’ll let you know.
