At MagicCon: Atlanta this past weekend, Wizards of the Coast revealed their lineup of sets for 2026. We got a glimpse quite far ahead into the future, and caught a glimpse of a return to several fan favorite planes, as well as more jaunts into other IPs, with further Universes Beyond sets on the cards. Let’s take a look at everything we’ve seen so far!
Table of Contents
ToggleLorwyn Eclipsed – January 23rd, 2026

Though it’s been nearly two decades since Lorwyn, and its darker counterpart, Shadowmoor, appeared in Magic: The Gathering, it’s long been a fan favorite plane of the Multiverse. So it’s great that fans will be able to return to Lorwyn, with the story of four students of Strixhaven taking a trip to the titular realm. Expect to see Lorwyn, Shadowmoor, its eclipsed realms and unique creatures when Lorwyn Eclipsed launches in January 2026.
Secrets of Strixhaven – April 2026

Though there’s an as-yet unrevealed Universes Beyond set to release between January and April 2026, the next set we know about is Secrets of Strixhaven; following on from the story of the four students on a field trip of sorts in Lorwyn Eclipsed, this set focuses on the magical college, Strixhaven University. The set promises to take another group of Strixhaven students beyond the walls of their educational establishment, and players can take the trip and explore the college (and beyond!) when Secrets of Strixhaven launches in April 2026.
Marvel Super Heroes – June 2026

Following on from the success of the Marvel’s Spider-Man MTG set, Wizards of the Coast are massively widening their focus on the Marvel Universe, to cover much more than Spidey’s relatively small corner of the comic book setting. Focusing on the Earth-based heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe (does this mean we’re going to see a cosmic Marvel set in the future?), players will be able to summon, and take on, the colorful characters of the comic books in Universes Beyond: Marvel Super Heroes, when the set launches in June 2026.
The Hobbit – August 2026

One of the biggest set releases in recent years for Magic: The Gathering was another Universes Beyond set: The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth. A set so big that even Post Malone got involved in the hunt for The One Ring, it did big business for Wizards of the Coast, bringing countless new players into the MTG fold. So it’s no surprise that we’re heading back to JRR Tolkien’s fantasy realm, with a not-exactly unexpected journey across Middle-Earth, in The Hobbit. The smaller, less epic tale of The Hobbit is perfect fodder for a new set, and we can’t wait to accompany Bilbo, Gandalf and friends on this new adventure. You can set off from The Shire yourself when The Hobbit launches in August 2026.
Reality Fracture – October 2026
For long-term followers of MTG lore, this is going to be the big one. Though we know very little about Reality Fracture at this stage, we do know that it will conclude the current storyline of Magic, following on from Tarkir: Dragonstorm‘s climax. Fan favorite characters and a shocking villain return are on the cards, and as Wizards of the Coast have revealed, this story “just might reshape the Multiverse”. We’re very intrigued, and can’t wait to see more unveiled as we head towards the October 2026 release date.
Star Trek – November 2026

Once the subject of one of the earliest (and best) MTG competitors, the Star Trek Customizable Card Game, Star Trek has more recently been featured in UniVersus and even had its own, themed version of Star Realms. In time for its 60th anniversary, Star Trek is now boldly heading for Universes Beyond, with its MTG set arriving in November 2026.
