It’s been a busy year for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (or TCG), but then again, isn’t it always? The release schedule doesn’t slow down, and the new cards just keep on coming! Surging Sparks is the name of the final set of 2024, and it’ll mostly be made up of cards from the Japanese sets, Paradise Dragona and Supercharged Breaker. If you take a look at our Paradise Dragona and Supercharged Breaker card lists, you can see which cards were translated when they made it to the West, in the form of the Surging Sparks set.

ToggleSurging Sparks: Base Set Card Gallery
All Pokémon sets have a base set of cards, and how many there are per set is indicated by the card number, which you’ll find in the bottom left of each card. Surging Sparks is a 191 card set, and you can see all 191 of the base set cards in the below gallery.
Surging Sparks: Secret Rare Card Gallery
So there’s more than 191 cards in the Surging Sparks set, despite the information above, along with the numbers on the cards? That’s right, and that’s also the case with all modern Pokémon TCG sets, which feature card numbered above the designated number of cards in the set. These are known as Secret Rare cards, and they’re typically alternate art cards of others found in the set, with special foil treatments too. They’re harder to pull from a booster pack due to their relative scarcity, and this, coupled with their beautiful aesthetics, makes them highly sought after for Pokémon TCG fans and collectors!
Are Other Cards Being Released With Surging Sparks Packs?
Though they won’t show the same set code as other Surging Sparks cards, every Pokémon TCG set features Promo cards that you’ll find in various packs. They are generally accepted as being part of the set’s release, despite not having the same set code as other cards. For Surging Sparks, it’s clear that The Pokémon Company is sticking with the Lightning Energy theme; the promo card that’ll be included in the Surging Sparks Elite Trainer Box will be Magneton, as pictured above.
There are also four more promo cards that’ll be included with various Surging Sparks products, such as multi-booster blister packs. Above, you can see the cards Gouging Fire, Chien-Pao, Magneton and Indeedee.
What Is The Release Date For Surging Sparks?
