Any player or collector of trading card games knows that it’s very easy for a collection to spiral out of control, with binders, boxes and cases of cards stored and squirrelled away anywhere they can be. The problem is exacerbated when you start branching out to multiple games, as we here at Card Gamer are all too aware of.
There are numerous ways to keep track of your cards, and their value, and a new challenger has now entered the fray. Sleeve is a new, browser-based service which does what many other collection tracking apps do, but does much more besides. It takes a very collector-based, investment-style approach, with a minimal, no-fuss interface and plenty of data for you to filter, arrange and properly sink your teeth into.
As you can see from the dashboard screenshot above, a wealth of information is available on your card’s value, as soon as you sign in. Your overall collection’s value, your top valued cards, even the biggest changes in value affecting cards in your collection, as well as your own, recent activity with your collection.
You can sort your cards in a multitude of ways, and actually adding cards to your collection couldn’t be simpler. You can scan a card with your camera, and Sleeve’s comprehensive database will allow identification of exactly the printing and variant of your scanned card within moments. Of course, should you want to import a collection you’ve already created elsewhere, you can do that using a CSV file too.
Of course, if you want to drill down further and look at data on individual cards, rather than your collection overall, you can do that too; it’ll even link you to external sites such as TCGplayer if you want to buy, or sell, your card(s). Mobile versions of Sleeve are available too (on iOS and Android), so you can also check out and update your card collection on the go.
Sleeve is free to use, with plenty of features available at no extra cost. You can add unlimited cards, build an unlimited number of decks, check costs on every copy of a card you own, track your sales, use filtering, tags and export as well as add up to 3 price alerts to cards in your collection, all for free. A Pro version is available for the more serious collector, and this is where things get really interesting for the financially minded card gamer. For a reasonable annual or monthly cost, collectors can use the Pro version of Sleeve to track profit and loss, add unlimited price alerts, trade calculators, collection value using tags and even, impressively, an insurance valuation of your collection as a PDF.

It’s a really exciting app, with a huge amount of value for TCG fans, both in the ease of its collection updating and tracking, as well as using its data to build decks with the cards in your collection, even including information on which formats your cards are legal in. Currently, Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon are supported; as the two biggest TCGs on the market, it makes sense for Sleeve to focus on these as it rolls out, but hopefully more games will be added to the database soon enough.
