UniVersus, previously known as the Universal Fighting System, has had a huge few years, with sets based on My Hero Academia forming the basis for most of the game’s big releases, and smaller product ranges featuring franchises as varied as Cowboy Bebop, Critical Role and Godzilla also making an appearance in the long running Collectible Card Game’s product range, among others.
As the game’s players know, one of the biggest strengths of UniVersus is its flexibility in terms of the cards you can build your deck from; you’re free to mix and match characters and cards from whatever series grabs your attention. Want to pit Godzilla against My Hero Academia’s main protagonist, Izuku Midoriya? It’s possible with UniVersus, which brings a fighting game-style feel of one-on-one combat and combos to the tabletop (which is appropriate, given that it quite often adapted video games such as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat into card game form!).
Now the UniVersus range has expanded, with its biggest set yet, with the release of Attack On Titan: Battle For Humanity. Based on the popular manga and anime series, Attack On Titan: Battle For Humanity brings the post-apocalyptic story of a society struggling to survive, as they battle terrifying, humanoid giants (the titular Titans).
With the set featuring the first ever double sided cards for UniVersus, as well as numerous alternate art and special variants, there are plenty of highly sought after cards in the set. Which are the most valuable though?
We took a look at the current average selling prices for cards using TCG Player, and compiled a list of the highest value cards. Note that Chrome Rare cards, the rarest and most sought after cards in any UniVersus set, are currently absent because they’re so limited in number that not one has been listed for sale yet.
Table of Contents
Toggle1. Levi Ackerman – Ultra Rare, Alternate Art ($63)
One of the most popular characters in Attack On Titan, Levi Ackerman is one of the strongest soldiers in the Survey Corps, as well as being the Captain of the force’s Special Operations Squad. This particular card is a variant of the Levi Ackerman Character card; as the standard Character cards in Attack On Titan: Battle For Humanity all have a stark, two tone illustration on a black background, this alternate art card variant is extremely striking by comparison.
Currently selling for an average of $63, it’s easily the most valuable card in the Attack On Titan: Battle For Humanity set, but if you do want to get this particular Levi Ackerman for your deck, the standard variant sells for around $1!
2. Mikasa Ackerman – Ultra Rare, Alternate Art ($52)
Regarded as the best soldier in the 104th Training Corps, Mikasa Ackerman later joined the Survey Corps to then become one of their best personnel too. Related to Levi Ackerman (fairly unsurprisingly, given their shared surname!), the alternate art version of her Character card is second only to his in terms of its value.
Currently selling for an average of $52, it’s another spectacular looking card, with these special alternate art UniVersus cards also having a textured treatment too. Of course, with this being an alternate art card, there’s a standard variant, and that one follows the style of other Character cards in the set, being a coloured pencil-type illustration on a black background. It’s also much cheaper, costing less than $2!
3. Stomp Of The Female Titan – Secret Rare, Alternate Art ($31)
This Attack card is one that looks as if it’s been ripped directly from a page of the Attack On Titan manga, depicting the iconic moment where the Female Titan’s stomping knocks Armin off his horse. Of course, the aesthetic feel of this card is entirely deliberate; you’ll see more examples of this full art, manga-style design on this list too.
Stomp of the Female Titan’s alternate art variant currently sells for an average of $31, and it’s clearly a popular card even in its standard art form, which has an average selling price of $17! If you want multiple copies of this card, it seems like it’s not just humanity that’ll get stomped; your wallet will take a hit as well!
4. Wall Maria’s Might – Secret Rare, Alternate Art ($30)
The three walls protecting the human kingdom are named after the daughters of the Founder, Ymir Fritz: Maria, Rose and Sheena. With Maria being the outermost wall of the three, it’s the first to fall when under attack by the Titans, and sees major action, with attempts to retake it occurring on a large scale.
Another manga style, alternate and full art card, this variant of Wall Maria’s Might is currently selling for an average of $30. Its standard art variant is also highly sought after and sells for a pretty high price, as you’ll see when you make your way further down this list!
5. Pressing The Advantage – Secret Rare ($30)
An Attack card, Pressing The Advantage is also classified as a Secret Rare. It’s got a dynamic, manga style panel showing the Survey Corps in action, and Japanese text (which, very roughly translated, also says ‘pressing the advantage’) to the right of the panel.
Despite not being a full art card, the unique style, which replicates the aesthetic of the manga that Attack On Titan originates from, is brilliantly done, and this goes a long way to explaining why it’s currently selling for an average of $30!
6. Midst Of Despair – Secret Rare ($29)
Another Attack card, Midst of Despair is also another card that features Japanese text that roughly translates to the English language card name. A Ranged Attack, Midst of Despair’s card art features a massive Titan onslaught, in striking green, on a black and white backdrop.
It’s classified as a Secret Rare card; however, while this rarity type, in any trading or collectible card game, usually refers to cards whose numbers are higher than the set number (for example, if it were card 298 of 297, it’d be classified as a Secret Rare), in the Attack On Titan: Battle For Humanity set, it seems that cards at the Secret Rare level are included within the set’s numbers. For instance, Midst of Despair is card 206 of 297, meaning that its rarity level likely refers to how scarce it is.
Secret Rares are typically found in 1 in every 72 booster packs, making this a particularly lucky find. So it’s no wonder that it’s selling for around $29 on average!
7. Wall Maria’s Might – Secret Rare ($28)
See, we told you that you hadn’t seen the last of Wall Maria! This standard version of Wall Maria’s Might is another featuring Japanese text that, roughly translated, displays the card’s name.
It’s also another with a kinetic piece of manga art, with the distinctive lines demonstrating the absolute battering that Wall Maria is suffering from the unseen Titans! As it’s the same card as the alternate art version, it has the same stats and abilities too.
This variant of the card sells for an average of $28; a high price that’s helped by its status as a Secret Rare card.
8. Double Bladed Spin – Ultra Rare, Alternate Art ($27)
Another card with a manga-style, full art treatment, this variant of Double Bladed Spin is an Ultra Rare, alternative art card. It’s also another Attack card, and it’s one that showcases a particularly effective offensive technique against the Titans.
This card currently has an average selling price of $27, holding its own against several other cards in this list in terms of its value. It demonstrates just how strong the demand is for the cards with the most spectacular art; with this set having been designed to be accessible to UniVersus newcomers, it’s very likely that Attack On Titan fans are discovering how addictive collecting cards can be, for the first time!
9. Unexpected Outcomes – Ultra Rare, Alternate Art ($25)
As if to prove that very point regarding Attack On Titan fans driving the demand for cards with the most spectacular art, here’s another full art, manga style card that’s absolutely stunning from a visual standpoint.
Unexpected Outcomes is another Attack card, rendered in striking black and white, with a dramatic illustration making it really stand out.
It’s currently selling for an average of $25, and what’s interesting is that its standard variant isn’t selling for that much cheaper, with prices on average for the standard card being around $18. Given that the art on the standard Unexpected Outcomes card is the same as the alternate art variant, albeit in colour, it once more demonstrates that fans are likely very keen to get their hands on cards with the most striking artwork!
10. Coordinated Strike – Secret Rare, Alternate Art ($25)
Finally, we have the literally striking (yes, the pun is definitely intended there!) Coordinated Strike card. This is a variant of a Secret Rare, featuring alternate art; unlike Unexpected Outcomes, for example, the art does differ between the two versions of the card.
This one features two manga panels, first showing weapons being fired at a Titan, then an image of the Titan from above, with attacks coming from all sides. This card is currently selling for an average price of around $25, with the standard variant only a few dollars cheaper, at around $23 on average.
