Star Wars Unlimited Card Rarities

Since launching in early 2024, Star Wars Unlimited’s booster packs have been among the best in any trading card game (or TCG) ever. With a “play first” philosophy, booster packs for Star Wars Unlimited have been designed with draft and sealed formats in mind from the outset. The approach to alternate art and foil treated cards has also meant that packs frequently contained at least one, if not more, “special” cards, so they did offer something for collectors too. Yet Fantasy Flight have now announced that they’re changing what you’ll find in booster packs, and have updated the pull rates accordingly. Let’s take a look at the new pull rates in Star Wars Unlimited booster packs!

As you can see from the image above, quite a bit is changing when it comes to what you’ll find in Star Wars Unlimited boosters, across both standard and Carbonite packs. Standard, black bordered foil cards have gone from being extremely common in both pack types to being completely removed, for example. Prestige art cards will now be found at the rate of 1 in every 18 standard packs, when previously the non-foil Prestige cards were only available in Carbonite boosters.

Other rates of finding cards have improved, and there will now be at least 1 Hyperspace card, and 1 Hyperspace foil card in every pack. Serialized Prestige cards will be printed with even scarcer print runs, going down as low as just 50 overall cards to find in Carbonite boosters in the entire world for the rarest cards!

When Will Booster Packs With the New Star Wars Unlimited Pull Rates Be Available?

The changes will be seen from the release of the A Lawless Time set onwards. A Lawless Time is releasing in March, 2026.

Why Are Star Wars Unlimited Booster Pack Pull Rates Changing?

With the Jump to Lightspeed set’s introduction of Carbonite boosters, Star Wars Unlimited’s version of the all-premium collector booster-type pack, things changed somewhat. New rarities and treatments were introduced, and the Showcase card type, which that were previously near-unattainable (with a pull rate of 1 in every 288 standard booster packs) became much more common. It seems to have had the effect of reducing the excitement of opening a standard booster pack, given that so many special card types were locked in the far more expensive Carbonite boosters.

Though of course, Star Wars Unlimited’s standard boosters remained unbeaten for players, even fans of TCGs who aren’t obsessive collectors, or looking to spend tons of money on expensive packs or single cards, still enjoy the thrill of opening booster packs. It all comes down to the possibility of finding something special, and that had definitely diminished once Carbonite packs were introduced.

As Fantasy Flight themselves have identified, it was really common to find a standard, black bordered card in the foil “slot” of a booster pack, and that was always disappointing. Likewise, finding a base card in the rare slot, when every pack already contains a base, always felt a little off too. Though the latter will still continue with the release of A Lawless Time, the following set and all future sets going forward will have any special bases appear only in a pack’s base slot.
