After its debut set became the most crowdfunded TCG in history, Altered switched to a retail-based distribution model once it was fully released beyond backers. Now, for fifth set, Seeds of Unity, it’s switching back to crowdfunding, but instead of Kickstarter, publishers Equinox are taking Altered to Gamefound.

ToggleWhat’s New in Seeds of Unity?

There’s an awful lot of new content and features for Seeds of Unity; the set itself will feature three new Heroes, two new starter decks (pictured above), a new card rarity (Exalted) and even Collector Boosters, full of special cards.
Three entirely new mechanics make their first appearance in Seeds of Unity too:
- Manaseeds: These allow you to store mana to use at a later point in the game.
- Gifts: With these, you can give your opponent a resource to gain a boost.
- In Contact: Finally, In Contact allows you to trigger effects if your opponent happens to be in the same region as you.
Additionally, deckbuilding rules have now been changed; your 40 card deck (which includes your Hero) can now have a maximum of 3 copies of each card (regardless of rarity), with a maximum limit of 15 Rare, 3 Unique and 3 Exalted cards per deck.
When Will Seeds of Unity Be Available?

The crowdfunding campaign for Seeds of Unity launches on October 28th via Gamefound. You can sign up to follow the project here. There are some excellent rewards available for backers, including plushes, playmats, acrylic Hero tokens and much more. Something that’s very important to know is that Seeds of Unity will be limited to a single print run, so once this set is printed and out in the wild, that’s it. The Seeds of Unity set, barring any complications, is due to be shipped in February, 2026.
