Moving ahead at what seems like lightning speed, Disney Lorcana’s second set – Rise of the Floodborn – has barely hit store shelves before the third set has been announced!
That’s right – we’ve gone from The First Chapter, to the launch of Rise of the Floodborn – and now Into The Inklands has been revealed by the trading card game’s publishers, Ravensburger.
So, what can we expect from Into The Inklands?
Mirroring the release pattern of the previous sets, Into The Inklands is due to launch in specialist retailers on February 23rd, followed by mass market, high street stores on March 8th.
This announcement doesn’t reveal a great deal about the set, though the Indiana Jones-style logo – along with other details that we do know – already give the impression that Into The Inklands will be a much more adventure-focused set than the prior two.
It will also continue the background narrative and setting that was kickstarted by The First Chapter, before progressing in Rise of the Floodborn.

ToggleWhat’s New In Into The Inklands?
First up, Ravensburger have tantalisingly revealed the existence of an entirely new type of card for Disney Lorcana: location cards!
The location cards will enable players to discover new landscapes – in a continuation of Rise of the Floodborn’s narrative, players will be travelling across the Inklands on a quest to find Lore, which has been scattered by the recent flood.
Locations, according to Ravensburger’s announcement, ‘add a whole new dimension of gameplay and a fresh new spin to every deck’.
What New Disney Series and Characters Will Appear In Into The Inklands?
Though the first two sets for Disney Lorcana have covered an impressive range of Disney characters, TV shows and movies, there are even more due to appear in Into The Inklands.
Befitting the adventurous style of the set, the Disney franchises seem to have been cleverly chosen to fit the theme – with DuckTales, TaleSpin, and Treasure Planet all announced as new arrivals to Lorcana’s universe by Ravensburger.
Though no images of specific cards have been released, the announcement teases ‘Disney’s Kit Cloudkicker questing through the air on his airfoil’, as well as being able to ‘draw a solar sailing Disney’s Jim Hawkins card into your hand’.
What Products Will Be Released For Into The Inklands?
Again, the announcement doesn’t provide any details – but the image released on Ravensburger’s Disney Lorcana website shows new play mats, featuring Moana and Stitch, along with deck boxes, card sleeves and two new single player Starter Decks.
This is currently all we have in the way of information for Into The Inklands, but be sure to come back to Card Gamer for more information – we’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on any further announcements from Ravensburger, as we can’t wait to take our first steps Into The Inklands!
