Pokémon TCG Announces Scarlet & Violet – Black Bolt & White Flare

Dubbed Scarlet & Violet - Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet - White Flare, these new Pokémon TCG sets hit shelves on July 18th, 2025.

On Tuesday, May 6th, The Pokémon Company announced a new split expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Dubbed Scarlet & Violet – Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet – White Flare, these new Pokémon TCG sets are expected to hit shelves on July 18th, 2025. The sets feature Reshiram as the main Pokémon of White Flare and Zekrom in Black Bolt.

According to The Pokémon Company’s latest press release, White Flare and Black Bolt will release worldwide on July 18th. Additionally, players of the Pokémon TCG Live app will be able to play with the sets digitally a day in advance. The press release goes on to say:

The Pokémon Company International announced today that a new split expansion for the bestselling Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet—White Flare, will be available beginning July 18, 2025, at participating retailers worldwide.
 
Split between the Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet—White Flare expansions, players can look forward to collecting cards featuring the 156 Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region. In addition, each Unova Pokémon will appear as an illustration rare or special illustration rare style card found in either Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt or Scarlet & Violet—White Flare associated products.
 
Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt will feature the Legendary Pokémon Zekrom, while Scarlet & Violet—White Flare will feature the Legendary Pokémon Reshiram. Each expansion will include three different parallel foil sets, two of which will feature either a rainbow Poké Ball or Master Ball pattern shimmering across the card. Furthermore, players can look forward to collecting new cards with features last seen in the Black & White Series, including cards that will feature a nostalgic foil pattern and Basic Energy cards featuring the original Black & White Series designs.
 
Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet—White Flare each include different variations of the following noteworthy cards:
                                                                                                                                 

  • Six Pokémon ex
  • Eight ultra rare Pokémon and Supporter cards
  • One illustration rare or special illustration rare card for each Unova Pokémon
  • One special illustration rare Supporter card

 
In addition, Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet—White Flare will introduce the highly styled Black White rare cards, which will feature card illustrations in a monochromatic black or white design.

PTCG Product Lineup For Black Bolt And White Flare

The press release goes on to speak about what products players and collectors can expect to find when looking for Black Bolt and White Flare. These are what you should be able to find at retailers:

  • Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt or Scarlet & Violet—White Flare Elite Trainer Box (available July 18, 2025): Includes nine Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt or Scarlet & Violet—White Flare booster packs, respectively; one illustration rare style promo card featuring Thundurus or Tornadus, respectively; and various gameplay accessories.
  • Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt or Scarlet & Violet—White Flare Binder Collection (available July 18, 2025): Includes five Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt or Scarlet & Violet—White Flare booster packs, respectively; and one nine-pocket album featuring Zekrom or Reshiram, respectively, to organize and store Pokémon TCG cards.
  • Unova Poster Collection (available July 18, 2025): Includes two Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt booster packs; two Scarlet & Violet—White Flare booster packs; three promo cards featuring Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott; and one full-size, two-sided poster.
  • Unova Mini Tin (available July 18, 2025): Includes one Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt booster pack; one Scarlet & Violet—White Flare booster pack; one art card and one sticker card matching the tin’s art.
  • Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt or Scarlet & Violet—White Flare Tech Sticker Collection (available Aug. 1, 2025): Includes three Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt or Scarlet & Violet—White Flare booster packs, respectively; one illustration rare style promo card featuring Reuniclus or Gothitelle, respectively; and one sticker sheet for personalizing laptops, tablets and other tech devices.
  • Unova Victini Illustration Collection (available Aug. 1, 2025): Includes two Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt booster packs; two Scarlet & Violet—White Flare booster packs; one illustration rare style promo card featuring Victini; one premium parallel Poké Ball card featuring Victini; and one oversize illustration rare style foil promo card featuring Victini.
  • Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt or Scarlet & Violet—White Flare Booster Bundle (available Aug. 22, 2025): Includes six Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt or Scarlet & Violet—White Flare booster packs, respectively.
