On Thursday, December 12th, Pokémon TCG Pocket announced Mythical Island, their “A1a” expansion and the first mini-set for the gaming app. Mythical Island contains 80 cards, unlike Genetic Apex‘s 286, when factoring in its secret rares. The mini-set will be released soon, with some speculators theorizing that “soon” here means December 16th, on the heels of the current Versus event’s conclusion. However, it will officially be live on December 17th. We even got a few reveal previews for the new set. Read on, and we will showcase those!

But it’s entirely possible that this press release wasn’t what you came to this article for in your neverending quest for new cards. As such, here are some new cards you could open in packs of Mythical Island!
Furthermore, The Pokémon Company revealed a few more cards on the sly. Through additional assets on their press release page, we know that a Fighting-type Aerodactyl ex card and a Pidgeot ex card exist. These, in turn, imply the existence of Old Amber, Pidgey, and Pidgeotto cards. Old Amber is likely to be a direct reprint, but whether Pidgey or Pidgeotto will be direct mechanical reprints from Genetic Apex remains to be seen.
