Fans of League of Legends, Arcane or any other spin-offs from Riot’s popular universe may be coming to Trading Card Games for the first time with Riftbound, and as such may not be fully aware of just how relentless the release schedule for TCGs can be. Case in point: Riftbound’s first set has just been launched, and we’re now getting some early looks at the next set, Spiritforged, which is due to be released in February 2026.

What’s New in Riftbound’s Second Set, Spiritforged?

Along with 12 new Legends, new keywords (Weaponmaster and Quick-Draw) and two new Champion Decks (Fiora and Rumble), three new mechanics have been revealed for Spiritforged: Equipment, Gold and Repeat. Let’s look at each of them!

Equipment

See the Spinning Axe card above? Pretty cool, right? The Spinning Axe is an Equipment card. Equipment is an entirely new subtype of card which is making its debut in Spiritforged, and these cards can be attached to your units, making them stronger, remaining in play even if the unit is killed. Well, unless it has the Temporary keyword, like the Spinning Axe above!

Gold

Next up is Gold, a new Token type which also doubles as Gear. It seems that Gold will be generated by the new Legends and Champion Units in Spiritforged. Once in play and readied, Gold can be cashed in to generate Power, thus giving players more options when it comes to playing their cards.

Repeat

Though we don’t yet have images of any cards which use Repeat, this new keyword will allow you to double the effect of some spells if you pay their cost twice.
