Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel has a lot of cards. Almost every card from the history of Yu-Gi-Oh is included in the game, with some cards included that aren’t even included in certain formats of the game.
With over 10,000 cards to choose from and a couple of different ways to unlock these cards, choice paralysis can be overwhelming.
We’re here to explain exactly how you unlock the secret packs that you want in Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel, and to break it down for you.
How To Unlock Secret Packs
Just purchase packs or craft a card from the pack you want and you’re all good to go!
There are two different ways that you can unlock secret packs in Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel. The first is to unlock a Super Rare or Ultra Rare that belongs to the pack that you’re looking to pull.
The best way to do this is to buy ten Master Packs that have cards from every secret pack and archetype in the game and open them. Usually, if you do this you’ll unlock at least a few different ‘keys’ which unlock secret packs (unless you’re really unlucky that is).
The other method is a lot easier though. Throughout playing the game you’ll acquire ‘dust’ which is basically materials. These materials can also be acquired by dismantling cards you don’t want.
If you can find a card from the secret pack that you want to unlock online and make sure that card is either a super rare or higher in rarity, then craft that card using your dust, and you’ll automatically unlock that secret pack.
If it’s the first time that you’ve unlocked that secret pack, then you’ll get a free pack too, so it’s worth doing it through this method if you can just for the addition of the free pack. After all, who knows what you might pull?
It is important to note however that several cards aren’t available in secret packs yet. These cards are only available in legacy packs (unlocked through various means), master packs, or selection packs (which are secret packs that don’t vanish after being unlocked for a certain period of time.)
All of these cards CAN be crafted though, which means that if you don’t want to have to trawl your way through special packs then you don’t have to and can just get them through other means.
Legacy Packs in particular are tough to pull cards from since you only pull two cards at a time and cannot buy these packs for any currency.
You have to use Legacy tickets which are normally unlocked by either meeting certain daily goals, playing through the solo mode of the game, or taking part in bigger tournament events that Master Duel occasionally holds with bigger and better rewards.
