The Dark Magician Girl card is one of the most popular and well known monsters in trading card game Yu-Gi-Oh, which has recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a selection of highly sought after products and even a special card treatment, the Quarter Century Secret Rare.
Given the popularity of Dark Magician Girl (check out our list of the most expensive Dark Magician Girl cards to see just how much fans are prepared to pay for different variants of the card), it’s no wonder that Yu-Gi-Oh publisher Konami have produced a very special, limited edition version of the card that’s available to Western fans as of the 1st of August, 2024.
Originally released as a limited edition collector’s item in Japan in 2019, us Western fans have had to wait a very long time for the Stainless Steel Dark Magician Girl card to become available as an English language card, but one look at the final product will demonstrate that it’s been worth the wait!
The card itself is made of stainless steel. It’s also polished (to what Konami describe as a ‘resplendent shine’ in their press release), safely housed in a secure, acrylic display case and arrives in a gorgeous box that truly makes it feel like a high end, premium product. Of even more interest to collectors is the fact that each copy of the card is individually numbered, making every single one truly unique.
The card itself will be instantly recognisable to Yu-Gi-Oh fans, given that it features the original, iconic artwork of Dark Magician Girl that’s graced countless variants since it was first introduced, over 20 years ago.
Though the card itself is a standard Dark Magician Girl in terms of its stats, with an Attack and Defense of 2000 and 1700 respectively, as well as the ability to gain 300 Attack for every ‘Dark Magician’ or ‘Magician of Black Chaos’ in the Graveyards of both players, it’s not as if you’ll be breaking open the fancy display case to add this card to your deck, nor would it be of any use to, given that it’s made of stainless steel!
The Stainless Steel Dark Magician Girl is available exclusively on Amazon, and given that it’s in limited numbers and won’t be available again, if it’s a product that piques your interest, you’ll need to be quick to make sure you secure yourself a copy!
As you’re probably expecting, however, it’s not cheap, with a price point of £169/€169. Still, this is a spectacular product that Yu-Gi-Oh fans will be able to show off for years to come, and its limited edition status means that it’s almost certainly going to rise in value as its availability reduces too.
It’d be great to see even more cards receive this kind of premium treatment, but of course the cost would soon mount up! In any case, the Stainless Steel Dark Magician Girl really is a spectacular way for Yu-Gi-Oh fans to truly show off their dedication and passion for the game, as well as the manga and anime that it was inspired by.
