10 Most Wanted UniVersus Cards From Attack on Titan: Origins of Power

Three cards fanned out from Attack on Titan UniVersus set, origins of Power

Since UniVersus relaunched in 2021, the game has covered a wealth of pop culture worlds, with the majority of its sets being focused on My Hero Academia. Earlier in 2024, the first Attack on Titan set was released, with the huge Battle for Humanity set, bringing double sided cards to UniVersus for the first time. Given the popularity of Attack on Titan in general, it’s not surprising to see that there’s now another set based on the manga and anime: Origins of Power. Let’s take a look at the 10 cards from Attack on Titan: Origins of Power that UniVersus fans are desperate to get their hands on!

10. Defeating the Colossus Titan (Alternate Art) – Secret Rare, 98/186

In at number ten is Defeating the Colossus Titan. It’s an attack card with two Blitz abilities, which is a relatively new type of ability in UniVersus. These abilities happen prior to any Enhance abilities being chosen and used, which makes them pretty useful.

Defeating the Colossus Titan’s two Blitz abilities are a great combo all on their own: the first allows the player’s character to lose X health, increasing the speed of the card’s attack by X; the attack also gets +4 damage if the player’s character’s health is at less than its maximum value, which of course can be triggered by the first Blitz ability.

It’s easy to see why, mechanically, this card makes it to the most sought-after cards in the Origins of Power set. Yet the card’s art is also pretty striking, with a frantic close-up and monochrome card art, which brilliantly replicates the feel of the Attack on Titan manga.

9. Hange Zoë, Four Eyes (Alternate Art) – Character Common, 7/186

Unusually for a “Most Wanted” list, in Hange Zoë we have a character card at the common rarity. Given that this is the case, it’s theoretically not hard to find this card in booster packs (though admittedly, this is an alternate art variant of the card, making it a little less frequently found).

So what makes it so desirable that fans are willing to pay well over the cost of a booster pack for this card? That’s not immediately apparent from the stats, though they aren’t unimpressive; Hange Zoë gives the player a seven-card hand and 21 health. Not bad, but also not the best there is.

However, Zoë’s Enhance abilities are what set their card apart. Firstly, the card can be committed to build one card from your hand, face down. This can either add three damage or subtract three damage from the current attack (depending on whether or not they’re attacking or defending). The second Enhance ability enables the player to sacrifice two foundation cards to ready Hange Zoë, giving them a powerful loop that’ll last as long as the player has foundations to sacrifice.

8. Attack Titan’s Haymaker/Eren’s Determination – Ultra Rare, 96a/186

Remember when we said that double-sided cards were introduced to UniVersus in their first Attack on Titan set? Well, here’s the first one to make it to the list of most wanted cards for Origins of Power!

This two-sided card is vividly, perhaps luridly, colored, which really makes it stand out against other cards on this list.

Its first side, Attack Titan’s Haymaker, is an attack card. As it has the Shift keyword, players can choose to flip the card over to the Eren’s Determination side when the card pool is cleared. This enables the card to then function as a foundation, which is pretty cool. Of course, this does present issues when deck building; just make sure to use opaque sleeves for your entire deck if this, or any other, double-sided cards are included.

7. Levi Ackerman, Humanity’s Strongest Soldier (Alternate Art) – Character Ultra Rare, 11/186

An Ultra Rare, alternate art character card, Levi Ackerman, Humanity’s Strongest Soldier has a pretty impressive 32 points of health. Levi only gives his player a six-card hand, but the high level of health should more than make up for that.

He also has an Enhance ability, which allows him to commit one foundation card in order to gain +3 speed or +3 damage to the current attack. That’s not all; he can also deal damage to an opponent as a Response to one of his non-Throw Weapon cards dealing damage.

Which makes this a pretty powerful and interesting character card, and definitely explains why it’s so sought after.

6. Bertolt Hoover, Living Weapon/Bertolt, Colossus Titan Advancing (Alternate Art) – Character Rare, 2a/186

Here we are with another double-sided card; this time, it’s Bertolt Hoover, with a Bertolt Colossus Titan on the other side. A character card, it can transform to its Titan side if a player has nine or more foundations. That’s extremely interesting in its wording, because it happens if either player gets to nine foundations.

That Titan side is especially powerful too, adding +2 damage to attacks, as well as allowing you to draw one card after you play an attack and your opponent commits a foundation.

5. Teaming with the Attack Titan (Alternate Art) – Ultra Rare, 105/186

As far as striking card images go, they don’t get much more so than this manga-inspired shot of the Attack Titan teaming up with humans.

An Ultra Rare, alternate art attack card, it also gets -2 difficulty for each attack in your card pool, making it less difficult to connect with the more attack cards you’ve played, which reverses one of the game’s key mechanics!

It also allows you to change its attack zone (it has a speed of five and attacks in the mid zone), as long as you have 20 or more cards in your discard pile.

4. Reiner Braun, Warrior/Reiner, Armored Titan Advancing (Alternate Art) – Character Rare, 13a/186

Another character card that might look a bit underwhelming at first glance, Reiner Braun has quite the trick up his sleeve. Though he only has 17 health, if his health drops below 1 and would cause you to lose the game, instead he’s turned over and transformed into Reiner, Armored Titan Advancing, restored to full health with another 17 points.

He also gets new Enhance abilities too; just from this information alone, knowing exactly how useful Reiner can be during a game, it’s easy to see why players are keen to get their hands on this card, thus driving its value up!

3. Kenny Ackerman, the Ripper (Alternate Art) – Character Common, 10/186

There’s no back side to worry about with the Kenny Ackerman, the Ripper card, which is another unusual addition to a most wanted list, given that it’s a common card – albeit an alternate art variant in this instance.

Kenny has an excellent 31 points of health, and bestows a speed and damage bonus to all ranged and/or weapon attacks he plays.

His response to dealing damage with a non-throw attack means that he can then commit to draw two cards, or commit to force your opponent to lose three health and discard a card. Not bad for a common character, right?

2. Zeke Yeager/Zeke, Beast Titan (Alternate Art) – Character Rare, 15a/186

Zeke Yeager’s double-sided character card has a massive 34 points of health, making it a pretty difficult opponent to overcome, just from a damage point of view.

That’s not the only thing you’ll be dealing with, because Zeke can, at the start of his player’s first turn, search the deck for a non-unique backup card and add it to their hand. So just to clarify: that’s a backup guaranteed before they even start their first turn!

An Enhance ability on Zeke’s card also allows him to add a backup card from your discard pile to your hand, as long as you discard one attack.

Finally, and this is where all of those backup cards come in even more useful: you can also commit Zeke to draw one card for each backup card in your stage, and if at any point this causes you to draw four or more cards, you transform Zeke into a Beast Titan.

The Beast Titan adds 2 speed and 2 damage to all of its ranged attacks, but if you also use the Enhance step to discard a backup (by this time, you’ll have at least four in play!), you can add one ranged attack from your discard pile to your hand.

So it’s clear why players are very keen to get their hands on this particular card!

1. Levi’s Rampage (Alternate Art) – Secret Rare, 152/186

So here we are at the number 1 spot, with the most highly sought after UniVersus card from the Origins of Power set: Levi’s Rampage.

As it’s an attack card with the Echo ability, you can keep using Levi’s Rampage until the fourth (or greater, if you’ve found a way to keep going) time it resolves in a turn, at which point it’s removed from play. It also gets a +3 damage bonus if it’s attacking a backup card.

Of course, both the card’s in-game utility and its moody, monochrome, manga-inspired artwork make it highly desirable in this alternate art variant; it’s definitely no shock to see it proudly atop this list!

So there you have it; the 10 most wanted cards from UniVersus set, Attack on Titan: Origins of Power.
