It’s hard to think of a Magic: The Gathering marketing campaign that’s ever had as much success as the one we’ve seen for Lorwyn Eclipsed. It turns out that using the real life wizardry of Jim Henson’s Creature Shop to create content including a rock opera-style commercial, along with faux-podcast shorts, gets plenty of fresh eyes on your three decade old trading card game! Of course, long term fans have seen the magic (pun intended) of Lorwyn and its dark sister plane, Shadowmoor, before, so it’s not just new fans who are getting excited to take a trip to these two contrasting worlds. 10. Wistfulness – Mythic, 296
One thing you’ll notice as we make our way through this list of Lorwyn Eclipsed cards is just how beautiful they all are. Even when the artwork is depicting something that isn’t exactly beautiful, by any conventional standard. Case in point: this borderless, Mythic Rare Wistfulness card.
9. Moonshadow – Mythic, 386
This Showcase card is another great example of the beauty inherent even in darkness, with this hungry, many-limbed Moonshadow creature. This is the version with borders, but you’ll see an even more spectacular variant of the card as we move down this list!
8. Bloom Tender – Mythic, 396
There’s an almost Studio Ghibli-esque feel to the art on this Bloom Tender card; it’s another Bordered Showcase card that you’ll be seeing again in an even more striking variant soon.
7. Bloodline Bidding – Mythic, 395
The first card on this list to feature the stunning Fracture Foil treatment, Bloodline Bidding doesn’t just have a striking visual concept, but also a pretty eye-popping color scheme too. It’s a phenomenal piece of art, and it’s clear why this particular variant is so sought after.
6. Harmonized Crescendo – Mythic, 394
This Fracture Foil variant of Harmonized Crescendo may just be my personal favorite card in the Lorwyn Eclipsed set, from the point of view of the artwork alone. That said, this entire list is a great showcase of some of the finest world-building and art I’ve seen in a long time from MTG; considering the high bar almost all Magic sets reach, that’s really saying something!
5. Collective Inferno – Rare, 397
Another darkly beautiful card, Collective Inferno is, unlike all other cards on this list, Rare instead of Mythic Rare. However, this Fracture Foil variant isn’t exactly easy to come by, which explains its inclusion on the list of the most valuable cards from Lorwyn Eclipsed!
4. Winnowing – Mythic, 392
Making our way towards the top of the list, we have the Fracture Foil variant of Winnowing. A card which does a great job of showcasing the enchanting, folksy fantasy of the plane of Lorwyn, it’s also another card which takes advantage of the set’s strong typal focus too.
3. Moonshadow – Mythic, 396
See? We said you’d be seeing Moonshadow again, didn’t we? So here it is, though this time the borders are out, and Fracture Foil is in!
2. Selfless Safewright – Mythic, 401
An Elf Warrior, Selfless Safewright appears on this list in its borderless, Fracture Foil incarnation. Like several other cards here and in the set overall, it’s incredibly useful to give you a strong bonus for any single creature type you have in play.
1. Bloom Tender – Mythic, 400
Finally, taking the top spot of the most valuable Lorwyn Eclipsed cards is the Fracture Foil variant of Bloom Tender. It really is a fantastic looking card, so it’s definitely earned its place here. Of course, there’s no shortage of gorgeous cards in the Lorwyn Eclipsed set, even with the more “traditional”, standard versions of each card.
