10 Most Valuable My Hero Academia Cards

Most Valuable My Hero Academia Cards

It’s time to use your Quirks, as we check out the most valuable My Hero Academia cards!

Despite feeling like a new kid on the block, My Hero Academia has been around since 2014, when it first appeared in Japanese manga anthology, Weekly Shonen Jump. Of course, in comparison to manga serials such as One Piece or Yu-Gi-Oh, both of which have been around for more than a quarter of a century, My Hero Academia does still feel relatively new.

My Hero Academia is set in a world where superpowers known as Quirks are common. The series protagonist is Izuku Midoriya, a boy who was born with no Quirk yet has always wanted to be a superhero himself. When he’s bestowed a Quirk by the great superhero All Might, he’s able to enrol in a school for trainee superheroes, setting the rest of the saga in motion.

With My Hero Academia being so popular, it’s been adapted into an anime series, seen numerous spin offs and, in 2020, was adapted into collectable card game (CCG) form too. The CCG uses the Universal Fighting System (also more recently known as Universus), which was created back in 2006; properties such as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Mega Man (as well as many more) have all been adapted into the collectable card game format.

With the game being around for a few years now, it’s had time to build up its own following. But which are the most expensive English language cards?

Let’s find out, as we check out the most valuable My Hero Academia cards!

1. Mirko – My Hero Academia: Girl Power, Chrome Rare

Given this card’s position in the list of the most valuable My Hero Academia cards, it’s apt that the character it depicts and represents, Mirko, is the most powerful female Pro Hero of them all. Mirko, the alter ego of Rumi Usagiyama, is so powerful that she’s ranked No. 5 among the Pro Heroes overall.

This card, a Mirko Character card, is a Chrome Rare; in UniVersus, this is the rarest card type, perhaps one of the rarest CCG card types in general. That’s because each Chrome Rare card is 1 of just 100 copies; each of these cards will have a foil stamp showing what number it is, so for example the first card will show 001/100, the second 002/100 and so on.

Given the very high level of scarcity when it comes to Chrome Rare cards, they tend to be the most highly sought after cards in any given set. That’s certainly true for the Girl Power set, which Mirko hails from. In fact, such is the demand for this card that the price has risen to $900 on average, using data we’ve looked at on TCG Player.98

Is Mirko a useful card for players? Undoubtedly, yes; however, you’re very unlikely to see this specific Mirko being used in a UniVersus game, given how highly sought after and valuable it is. With a hand size of 6, a Vitality of 30 and decent Response and Enhance abilities, you may well see Mirko in her unserialized, non-Chrome Rare form; however, this specific variant is sure to be a very elusive sight indeed.

2. Tsuya Asui – My Hero Academia: Girl Power, Chrome Rare

The second card on the list is also another Chrome Rare card from the Girl Power set. With five Chrome Rares from Girl Power overall, it’s clear that players are very keen to get their hands on these cards!

Tsuyu Asui is shown on this card as her alter ego, the Rainy Season Hero, Froppy; she’s also shown using a few of the abilities that her ‘Frog’ Quirk grants her. That is to say, a very powerful, extending tongue, and leaping with her astonishingly strong legs.

A Character card that grants its player a hand of 5 cards, a Vitality of 33 and two Response abilities, just like Mirko, you’re very unlikely to see this specific card being used in actual play; with it being a Chrome Rare card, there are only 100 copies in the entire world, and this card is currently valued at an average price of $500!

3. Himiko Toga – My Hero Academia: Girl Power – Chrome Rare

A major antagonist in My Hero Academia, the sadistic Himiko Toga features on this Character card, which again demonstrates the popularity of the Chrome Rare cards from the Girl Power set.

Himiko’s Quirk gives her the ability to take on the physical appearance of any person, with one catch. She first has to ingest their blood; the more of their blood she ingests, the longer she can imitate them.

Which explains the murderous intent Himiko’s showing on this card! She’s a Character that gives her owner a 6 card hand size, 29 Vitality and two Enhance abilities. Value wise, this Himiko card is currently selling for an average of $475, and as a Chrome Rare it’s another card that you’ll either be very unlikely to see in the wild, or incredibly lucky to pull from a Girl Power booster pack!

4. Dabi – My Hero Academia: Jet Burn – Chrome Rare

The eldest son of the Pro Hero Endeavor, Dabi is one of the biggest villains in the My Hero Academia saga. So it stands to reason that one of his cards would appear on the list of the most valuable My Hero Academia cards!

Of course, it’s another Chrome Rare card; this card grants its owner a hand size of 6, a Vitality of 28 and note just two Enhance ablities, but a Response too. Naturally, it’s going to be unlikely that you’ll see this 1 of 100 card on the tabletop, or at all; if you do somehow manage to pull this card from a Jet Burn booster pack, however, note that it’s currently selling for an average of $400!

5. Stalagmite Piercer – My Hero Academia: Undaunted Raid, Chrome Rare

This card, Stalagmite Piercer, is the first non-Character card to make it onto this list. An Attack card, Stalagmite Piercer is, however, another Chrome Rare (this time, it’s a card from the Undaunted Raid set). Which means (of course!) that there’s just 100 copies of this card in the wild, each with their own unique number stamp.

This card depicts the villainous Kai Chisaki, also known as Overhaul, which is also the name of his Quirk. It’s the fifth Chrome Rare of 5 from the Undaunted Raid set, and is currently selling for an average price of $300. Given how popular Character cards are, it’s impressive to see an Attack card this high on the list, but of course being a Chrome Rare will push any card’s value sky high.

6. Rejuvenating Smash – My Hero Academia: Pro Hero Nationals 2023 Champion, Promo

What could possibly be more scarce than a Chrome Rare, and yet somehow, not quite as valuable? That honour goes to Attack card Rejuvenating Smash, which was given to the Champion of the 2023 Pro Hero Nationals tournament.

A Promo card, Rejuvenating Smash has recently reached an average price of $225. Though it doesn’t have a gold stamp showing its number, like a Chrome Rare has, the word ‘Champion’ is cleverly worked into the card’s art.

7. Selkie – My Hero Academia: Provisional Showdown 2 Champion, Promo

Another tournament prize, promotional card makes it onto the list of the most valuable My Hero Academia Cards; this Selkie Character card was given to the Champion of the Provisional Showdown 2 tournament, back in 2022.

Selkie grants the player a hand of 6 cards, and has a Vitality of 26. His card has numerous abilities, including a First Form and Response. Though Selkie is an adult male, he has the appearance of a seal, albeit an anthropomorphised one!

This version of the Selkie Character card currently sells for an ice cool $120, which is definitely not bad given its rarity as a Championship Promo card.

8. Shoto Todoroki – My Hero Academia: Hero League Championship 2022, Promo

We’re not surprised to see another Championship promo card on this list, sspecially as it features Shoto Todoroki, one of the most popular characters from My Hero Academia.

Shoto Todoroki has a unique look, with his two tone, symmetrically coloured hair; this also reflects his Quirk, ‘Half Cold Half Hot’, a power which sees Shoto able to generate ice and frost from the right side of his body, alongside heat, fire and flames on the left.

This card is one earned at the Hero League Championships in 2022, and it currently sells for around $100.

9. Rejuvenating Smash – My Hero Academia: Pro Hero Nationals 2023 Contender, Promo

I know what you’re thinking: didn’t we already see a Rejuvenating Smash promo card on this list? We certainly did, but if you’re especially keen at spot the difference, you’ll note from this card’s art that it was awarded to Contenders at the 2023 Pro Hero National tournaments, and not the Champion!

You’ll also note that, despite featuring the same basic artwork of My Hero Academia protagonist, Izu Midoriya (and Eri, if you’re especially eagle eyed), this card has a silver foil treatment, rather than gold.

Despite not being the Champion card, this Contender promo is sought after enough that it currently holds an average selling price of around $75.

10. Falling Skies – My Hero Academia: Jet Burn, Extra Secret Rare

Aside from Chrome Rares, Extra Secret Rares (designated as XSR on the bottom right of the card) are the rarest cards in UniVersus. Consequently, they tend to hold their own pretty well in terms of value, though of course Chrome Rare cards and Championship Promos tend to value higher than most of them.

That said, here we have an Extra Secret Rare card that’s just about made it onto the list of the most valuable My Hero Academia cards. This time, it’s an Attack card, named Falling Skies, from the Jet Burn set.

Falling Skies features a striking shot of Ochaco Uraraka, and this very same artwork, albeit with borders, can be found on a Secret Rare version of the card. Check out our guide to My Hero Academia card rarities for more details; however, in short, Secret Rare cards are typically found at the rate of 1 in every 72 booster packs, and Extra Secret Rares are even more difficult to find than that!

So it’s no surprise that this card holds a current selling value of around $74. Though UniVersus as a game overall, given that it supports far more franchises than My Hero Academia, has other cards that are valued more highly than some on this list (and often, they’re Chrome Rares too), it’s well worth checking out more than just My Hero Academia if you’re a UniVersus fan.
