The Japanese set, Nihil Zero, has arrived. The latest set for the Mega era of Pokémon has some exciting new cards, and many that fans are very keen to get their hands on! We checked out TCGplayer to find out which cards are commanding the highest prices right now. So let’s check out the most valuable cards in Pokémon’s Japanese Nihil Zero set!
Table of Contents
Toggle10. Dedenne – Art Rare, 085/080

Some of my favorite Pokémon cards of all time aren’t depicting a battle ready Pokémon striking a cool pose, but instead the more candid shots of creatures in their environment, just being themselves. Case in point: this Dedenne card, which kicks off our list of the most valuable cards in the Nihil Zero set!
9. Mega Zygarde ex – Super Rare, 097/080

Get used to seeing Mega Zygarde ex; there’s more of them to come, as you’ll soon see! The first one, however, is this Super Rare card with the striking aesthetic that’ll be familiar to fans of the Mega sets. A minimal color scheme, a silhouette style wireframe of the Pokémon in the background to complement the more detailed figure in the foreground; these Super Rare cards are highly sought after for good reason!
8. Clefairy – Art Rare, 086/080

Here’s another of the adorable cards showing a Pokémon in the wild. This Clefairy has a truly gorgeous, enchanting woodland scene with the cute Pokémon displaying a great deal of laidback charm!
7. Meowth ex – Super Rare, 100/080

Just like Clefairy, Meowth is one of the original 151 Pokémon, and remains one of the most popular ever. That’s largely thanks to Meowth’s snarky turn as the verbose sidekick of Team Rocket in the Pokémon animated show. However, there’s no denying that Meowth has plenty of wide-eyed, cute appeal even without the amusing heel turn the character takes for the TV show!
6. Yveltal ex – Super Rare, 098/080

First things first: how do you pronounce this Pokémon’s name? Apparently, Yveltal is pronounced “ee-vell-tall”, so it sounds exactly like “Evil Tall”. This Yveltal ex card is another with a minimal color scheme and striking, dynamic visual design. It’s no surprise to see it on this list!
5. Rosa’s Encouragement – Super Rare, 107/080

Speaking of unsurprising entries on this list, we always see at least one with artwork of a female Pokémon Trainer appear, and here’s the first one! Rosa’s Encouragement is really useful, in-game too, which helps. Though you can only use it if you have more Prize cards remaining than your opponent, it allows you to attach up to 2 Basic Energy cards from your discard pile to 1 of your Stage 2 Pokémon. Which is pretty cool, and should certainly help you to catch up on your opponent!
4. Jacinthe – Special Art Rare, 116/080

Here’s another female Trainer card; this time, it’s Jacinthe with an absolute smorgasbord of delicious looking food. Her ability is pretty amazing: she can heal an enormous 150 HP of damage from a Psychic Pokémon!
3. Mega Clefable ex – Special Art Rare, 112/080

We’ve already had Clefairy, and here’s that Pokémon’s evolved form, with this Mega Clefable ex!It’s a gorgeous card, with a suitably cosmic illustration. It seems to almost follow on from the Clefairy card’s art, which saw the Pokémon curiously poking at the stars. On this card, the Clefable has ascended, and is joyously skipping through the air.
2. Mega Starmie ex – Special Art Rare, 111/080

This Mega Starmie ex card is pretty spectacular; it’s a great showcase for the Pokémon itself, and features some gorgeous visual effects, making a truly dazzling illustration. It’s no wonder that this card is so highly sought after by Pokémon fans!
1. Mega Zygarde ex – Special Art Rare, 113/080

In at number one is the Special Art Rare version of Mega Zygarde ex. This Fighting type Pokémon is undoubtedly the star of the Nihil Zero set, so it’s really not a shock to see it at the top spot of the list of the set’s most valuable cards!
Bonus Entry: Mega Zygarde ex – Mega Ultra Rare, 117/080

That said, we have an inkling that this is the “real” most valuable card for Nihil Zero. We use current market prices on TCGplayer to put together our lists, and this card was conspicuous by its absence. However, that’s easily explainable. As a Mega Ultra Rare (the only one in Nihil Zero), this Mega Zygarde ex is the rarest card of the set, and as such hasn’t even been listed as of the time of writing! Be sure to see this card become the grail for collectors of Nihil Zero though.
