It may seem strange to have a female Pokémon trainer card right at the opening of a most valuable cards list. After all, in any given set, these often appear, and end up being among the most highly sought after cards. Yet we haven’t seen the last of Dawn on this list!

9. Piplup – Illustration Rare, 098/094

This adorable Piplup card is “only” an Illustration Rare (rather than a Special Illustration Rare), but the gorgeous artwork and the general scarcity of all cards at this rarity level and higher has clearly pushed it into the list of the most valuable Phantasmal Flames cards with ease!

8. Meowth – Illustration Rare, 106/094

The same can be said for this Meowth card; it’s hardly a powerhouse in terms of its in-game stats and abilities, but its artwork makes it an absolutely unmissable card for Pokémon fans. Especially given that Meowth is practically royalty when it comes to Pokémon, given his status as one of the original 151, and his prominence in the original Pokémon animated show!

7. Rotom ex – Special Illustration Rare, 126/094

This beautifully stylized card showcases Rotom alongside its various forms, as different pieces of electrical equipment. The vibrant colors and clever, abstract design marks this as an electrifying card that’d give you a real buzz if you pulled it from a booster pack!

6. Mega Lopunny ex – Special Illustration Rare, 128/094

Several Special Illustration Rare cards in the Mega sets so far have had a similar style. A striking portrait of a Pokémon in action, with bold, vibrantly colored swirls around the titular character on the card. This Mega Lopunny ex fits into that style, and its high impact art, along with its spectacular foil treatment, makes it a very desirable card.

5. Mega Sharpedo ex – Special Illustration Rare, 127/094

The same can be said for this Mega Sharpedo ex card, which shares the same dynamic and colorful style as the Mega Lopunny ex. It’s a really striking image, and a spectacular card; no wonder it places so highly on the list of the most valuable Phantasmal Flames cards!

4. Mega Charizard X ex – Ultra Rare, 109/094

Another style of card that’ll be familiar to fans of recent Pokémon sets is the one seen on this Ultra Rare, Mega Charizard X ex card. With a minimalist color scheme, shiny foil treatment and a silhouette of the titular Pokémon in the background, these Ultra Rares have proven very popular, and they’re definitely an exciting find if you’re lucky enough to find one in a booster pack!

3. Dawn – Special Illustration Rare, 129/094

See, we told you that you hadn’t seen the last of Dawn on this list! This more detailed, candid shot sees Dawn running alongside her bicycle in the great outdoors. It does seem as if every set has a preferred trainer, and for Phantasmal Flames it definitely seems to be Dawn!

2. Mega Charizard X ex – Mega Hyper Rare, 130/094

Gold Hyper Rare cards are extremely hard to photograph, and digital images of them can’t hope to replicate just how spectacular they look in person. With textured foil treatments and that all over gold coloring, they’re very distinctive, and really stand out amongst other Pokémon cards.
