With eBay being the world’s largest online marketplace for trading cards, it’s great to see them taking the sector seriously, with a new tool being made available to aid both buyers and sellers of trading cards. Their trading card price guide has now arrived in the UK; with values of cards differing so wildly due to demand, rarity, condition and grading, it’s the perfect tool for collectors and players of a wide variety of cards and games.

It’s also incredibly easy to use, as the image above demonstrates. Users of the eBay app can simply go to their My eBay menu, choose the “Scan cards” option and take a photo of their card. This will unlock useful pricing data, including trends and comparisons, before listing or buying cards with just a few taps in the app.

Here’s what the price guide offers:

● Scan and identify: Scan raw or selected graded trading cards using a smartphone camera to quickly identify cards and find relevant comparables.
● Access recent sales data: View up to two years of first-party eBay sales data, including accepted Best Offer prices, updated within the last 24 hours.
● Compare: Toggle between sold and active listings and view PSA and CGC population report data to better understand market value and rarity.
● Free to use: Available to UK eBay account holders on the latest version of the eBay app, with no subscription fees or usage limits. Availability will roll out from 1 September 2026.

Further features will be accessible directly from listings of cards for games such as the big three of Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon, as well as other popular titles; One Piece and Disney Lorcana, for example. Users will be able to view insights from individual listings, and the guide will support both raw and graded singles, using data from the last two years of completed transactions on eBay.

These significant improvements to the buying and selling experience for card collectors and players via eBay is well timed, coinciding with Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, as well as a plethora of hugely popular sets for Magic: The Gathering and other games. Further evidence of this timing comes from eBay themselves; according to their data, Pokémon was search more than six million times on ebay.co.uk, in July 2026 alone.
