With more than 100 Leaders to choose from in Star Wars Unlimited, it’s perhaps a surprise that it’s taken this long for a Leader with two identical aspects to be revealed. So let’s take a look at the first one, with the DJ, Need a Lift? Leader card, from Star Wars Unlimited’s sixth set, Secrets of Power.

What Aspects Does DJ Have?

In a first for Star Wars Unlimited, the DJ, Need a Lift? card has two identical aspects. Leader cards in Star Wars Unlimited have always had one aspect paired with either the Heroism or Villainy aspects, so DJ is the first ever not just to have two identical, paired aspects, but also the first without either Heroism or Villainy. The two aspects that DJ has are Cunning and Cunning, making him a unique choice as your Star Wars Unlimited Leader.

How Do the Paired Aspects Make DJ Different to Use in Star Wars Unlimited?

When you build a deck in Star Wars Unlimited, you may only use the aspects which are shown on your Leader and Base cards, unless you want to pay an aspect penalty when playing cards. Using DJ means that you won’t have access to any cards with Heroism or Villainy, without paying over their cost when it comes time to play them.

DJ also presents a potential issue which has yet to be addressed by Fantasy Flight, regarding the multiplayer variant of Star Wars Unlimited, known as Twin Suns. In Twin Suns, each player uses two Leaders instead of one. These Leaders must share either the Heroism or Villainy aspect; it’s not permitted to use Leaders which have the opposing aspect.

So where does that leave DJ when playing Twin Suns? Given that he isn’t a hero or a villain, we suspect that it just means he’s able to be paired with any other Leader, regardless of the side of the galactic conflict they fall on.

We’re keen to see how DJ shakes up the meta when Secrets of Power is released in November. You can check out the list of cards in Secrets of Power, as well as a closer look at the different aspects in Star Wars Unlimited.
