Pokemon TCG Shrouded Fable is a special ‘mini’ set, and has just 99 cards in total. Sandwiched between the Twilight Masquerade set and upcoming release, Stellar Crown, the cards in Shrouded Fable were first seen, for the most part, in Japanese set Night Wanderer.
Featuring The Loyal Three, characters from DLC for the Pokemon: Scarlet & Violet video games, Shrouded Fable also has a focus on poison mechanics and card synergies, with some very powerful combos now possible, that can quickly rid the game of pesky Pokemon!
The set features some great special illustration and foil rare cards, but which ones are the most highly sought after? We’ve gathered the latest data from TCG Player to find out what the most expensive cards are in the set.
So with that in mind, let’s check out the most valuable cards in Shrouded Fable!
Table of Contents
Toggle1. Cassiopeia – Special Illustration Rare ($127)
The first card on our list is the Special Illustration Rare variant of Supporter card, Cassiopeia. It’s not hard to see why this is at the top of the list of most valuable Shrouded Fable cards, with a current average selling price of $127.
Only one Supporter card can be played per turn, but Cassiopeia has an extra requirement too; her card can only be played when it’s the last card in your hand. When played, Cassiopeia allows you to search your deck for any 2 cards, then put them in your hand before shuffling your deck.
Despite the strict requirement for playing Cassiopeia, it’s a very powerful Supporter card. Given that it’s not an Ace Spec card, you can have up to 4 Cassiopeias in your deck; it’s no wonder, given what it can do, that it’s proving so popular. Though this Special Illustration Rare version is the most valuable, its standard, uncommon variant is just $0.11, so if you aren’t fussed about getting the most spectacular looking card, it won’t break the bank to get multiple copies of Cassiopeia!
2. Fezandipiti ex – Special Illustration Rare ($83)
Dark type Pokemon Fezandipiti ex, one of The Loyal Three, appears here as a Special Illustration Rare variant. In game terms, Fezandipiti is pretty capable; though it does have the Dark type, its single attack, Cruel Arrow, uses three Colorless Energy, making this card pretty useful in just about any deck.
It also has the Flip the Script ability; this can be used if any of your Pokemon were Knocked Out on your opponent’s previous turn, and allows you to draw 3 cards (albeit only once per turn). With that and Cruel Arrow, Fezandipiti ex makes itself known as one of the best cards in Shrouded Fable.
Its Special Illustration Rare variant is currently worth an average of $83, and its not hard to see why its highly stylised art makes it so sought after. That said, however, even the cheapest variant of Fezandipiti ex is currently selling for around $11, so its obviously sought after for its in-game utility and not just for card collectors!
3. Earthen Vessel – Hyper Rare ($50)
Making its debut in Paradox Rift, Earthen Vessel is an Item card that can be used if you discard a card from your hand. It allows you to search your deck for up to 2 Basic Energy cards, reveal them and then put them in your hand, before shuffling your deck.
With the Ancient keyword, it also provides great synergy with other Ancient cards, and it’s proven to be a very popular card in the current meta. So it’s not surprising that its gold, Hyper Rare variant is proving to be so sought after.
Hyper Rare cards don’t just have a visually stunning gold aesthetic; they also have a textured foil treatment too, making them feel extra special in addition to looking great. As Earthen Vessel’s standard variant from Paradox Rift currently sells for an average of $3.50, you can see why its Hyper Rare version fetches $50 on average.
4. Okidogi ex – Special Illustration Rare ($44)
You’ll note that all of the cards on this list have card numbers that go above the ‘official’ number of cards in the set. There are 64 cards in the base set of Shrouded Fable, so why are all of the cards on this list numbered above 64? For example, this Okidogi ex card is 90/64.
That’s because, in addition to their individual card rarities, each card on this list is classified as a Secret Rare. That means that they are a variant of a standard card from this or another set, featuring alternate art and foil treatments, and as such they’re numbered above the set’s number of unique cards.
So, Okidogi ex is the next member of The Loyal Three to make it onto this list, and it’s another Dark type card too. Unlike Fezandipiti ex, you will need at least a few Dark Energy cards to use its Chain Crazed attack, which has a cost of two Dark Energy and one Colorless. It deals 130 damage, but if Okidogi is Poisoned, it deals an extra 130 HP of damage!
Though you will need to have access to those two specific Dark Energy cards, luckily Okidogi ex has another trick up its sleeve, with its Poisonous Musculature attack. For the cost of a single Colorless Energy, you can search your deck for two Basic Dark Energy cards, and attach them to Okidogi ex.
Doing so results in Okidogi ex being Poisoned, but of course this then means that its Chain Crazed attack will deal a total of 260 HP damage on its next turn! This, coupled with the striking, stylised art, has seen Okidogi ex reach an average selling price of $45. The two other versions of Okidogi ex are much cheaper, selling for around $3–$4; as this card is already one that seems to be in plenty of decks at present, you’ll either want to get hold of multiple copies yourself, or find a way to counter it, and quickly!
5. Persian – Illustration Rare ($39)
As it’s the first Pokemon on this list that isn’t Basic, note that you’ll need a Meowth in play before Persian can hit the table. It’s not a particularly special card in terms of its attacks, however, and as a Colorless type Pokemon that can deal, at max, 150 HP of damage (if you’re lucky on coin flips with Fury Swipes), this isn’t a card that’s going to make an appearance in many decks.
However, as an Illustration Rare, featuring a very striking piece of art, it’s really obvious why collectors are driving the price of this particular card up. Especially as it features one of the original 151 Pokemon too!
You’ll currently see this card on sale for an average of $39, with its standard variant selling for just $0.19; that massive difference really does demonstrate that the demand for Persian is just based on the aesthetics of the Illustration Rare!
6. Pecharunt ex – Special Illustration Rare ($36)
Pecharunt leads The Loyal Three, so it’s not surprising at all to see this Pecharunt ex card on the list, especially as (despite art being subjective, of course) it’s another genuinely gorgeous card with a great, moody colour scheme.
Pecharunt ex’s ability, Subjugating Chains, allows you to switch one of the Dark Pokemon (though you’re not allowed to do this with a Pecharunt ex) on your Bench with your Active Pokemon. You can only do this once per turn and it immediately Poisons the new Active Pokemon, however, as we’ve seen with Okidogi ex, being Poisoned can be beneficial in some ways!
Pecharunt ex’s attack, Irritated Outburst, costs two Dark Energy to use, and gets stronger as your opponent takes more Prize Cards. It deals 60 HP damage per Prize Card your opponent has taken, so you can sit back and wait for them to think they’re ahead before striking!
Though you can buy a standard variant of Pecharunt ex for around $2, this Special Illustration Rare will set you back $36 on average!
7. Munkidori ex – Special Illustration Rare ($36)
The final Pokemon from The Loyal Three, the Munkidori ex’s Special Illustration Rare card also matches the art style of the other two, Fezandipiti ex and Okidogi ex. It wouldn’t be surprising to learn that collectors are trying their best to snap up all three, along with the Pecharunt ex in the same style, thus driving up the prices of each of them.
Of course, there’s also the fact that The Loyal Three (and their leader, Pecharunt ex) are all great cards in general, which does help! Dark type Pokemon Munkidori ex has the Oh No You Don’t Ability, which slows down your opponent; it does this if you have a Pecharunt ex in play when Munkidori ex is Knocked Out, as it reduces the number of Prize Cards your opponent then takes!
It also has the Dirty Headbutt attack, which deals 190 HP of damage for the cost of two Dark and one Colorless Energy. However, using this also stops you from using it on the following turn, so this attack’s timing is crucial!
Though this particular Special Illustration Rare has an average selling price of $36, you can pick up other versions of Munkidori ex for as little as $1 on average.
8. Houndoom – Illustration Rare ($25)
Another Stage 1 Pokemon, Houndoom requires that Houndour is in play before it can be used to evolve the Basic Pokemon. However, just like the Persian card above, it’s almost certain that these particular cards aren’t going to be used in play at all, given that the standard variant of Houndoom is selling for around $0.14, while the Illustration Rare commands an average price of $25.
A Fire type Pokemon, Houndoom has two attacks; Bite requires two Colorless Energy to use and deals a straightforward, no nonsense 50 HP of damage, whereas Snarl needs a Fire Energy and two Colorless to deal 100 HP of damage.
Snarl has the added effect of reducing the damage dealt by the Defending Pokemon on its next turn by 100 HP, which is a great bonus too!
9. Dusknoir – Illustration Rare ($24)
Here we have the only Stage 2 Pokemon on this list, Dusknoir. Getting a Dusknoir into play requires first having a Duskull, then a Dusclops, finally evolving into a Dusknoir. Unless you have a Rare Candy of course, in which case you can skip the Dusclops stage of evolution!
Dusknoir has a bit of a risky move, in that its Cursed Blast ability can immediately deal 130 HP of damage to an opponent’s Pokemon, but doing so Knocks Out Dusknoir too. Its Shadow Bind attack deals 150 HP of damage, and can be used as long as you have two Psychic Energy and a Colorless Energy in play. It also stops the Defending Pokemon from retreating.
A standard variant of Dusknoir should cost you around $0.69 on average, but this Illustration Rare version will set you back an average of $24!
10. Powerglass – Hyper Rare ($21)
The only Pokemon Tool card on this list, Powerglass is an excellent card. It allows you to move a Basic Energy card from your discard pile to the Pokemon that Powerglass is attached to, as long as it’s in the Active Spot.
With a current average selling price of $21, it’s worth noting that, if you did want to pick up the standard, non-Hyper Rare variant of this card, it’ll actually only cost you around $0.13 on average! It’s another excellent card from the set, and a great way to finish off our list of the most valuable cards in Shrouded Fable!
