10 Most Valuable Topps Chrome Cards Of All Time

Valuable Topps Chrome Cards

It’s time to take a look at some of the most expensive trading cards ever – as we check out the most valuable Topps Chrome cards!

Topps are a company that made their name with trading cards packed with bubble gum – though they initially saw success with baseball cards released in this format, they soon branched out to other sports, licensed properties and their own, original trading card series too.

You’re not likely to find bubble gum packaged alongside cards from Topps any more, however – given that it’s known to damage the cards over the longer term, with collectors still seeking out sealed packs of cards and gum from decades ago.

Though sports-themed cards tend to be valued higher than most other types of Topps trading card we’ve seen, there’s also some impressively expensive cards on our most valuable Topps Pokemon cards and most valuable Topps Star Wars cards lists too!

Topps now focus heavily on premium cards aimed at collectors – and their various Chrome sets are highly sought after examples of genuinely high end trading cards.

Some can sell for thousands of dollars, in fact – and we’ve scoured eBay to check out what Topps Chrome cards have actually sold for, in order to bring you this list.

Which are the most expensive though?

Let’s find out, as we check out the most valuable Topps Chrome cards!

1. Topps Chrome UEFA – Erling Haaland Autograph, 2022 ($200,000)

Topps Chrome Card 1 - Erling Haaland

No, that’s not a typo.

The listing price for this unique, one of one, autographed Topps Chrome card was $200,000!

As is often the case with many high value cards, the seller did accept a best offer price for this item – so unfortunately, we can’t see the exact price it sold for.

However, given its unique nature – and the fact that it’s signed by popular player Erling Haaland – we have no reason to believe that it went for significantly less than the original asking price.

Especially as it’s graded by Beckett at a high level of 9 too.

This isn’t the last time you’ll see Erling Haaland appear on this list of the most valuable Topps Chrome cards either – proving that he’s a very highly sought after personality when it comes to trading cards!

2.  Topps Chrome – Corbin Carroll 1/1, 2023 ($30,000)

Topps Chrome Card 2 - Corbin Carroll

Considering this baseball card – featuring Arizona Diamondbacks player Corbin Carroll – isn’t even autographed, it’s pretty impressive to see the amount it sold for.

What’s even more impressive is that this is one card that didn’t sell for below its list price – so we know it sold for $30,000!

Having made his MLB debut in 2022, this is Carroll’s rookie card – and, given that this card is a 1/1 variant, should his star continue to rise, there’s no doubt the value of this card will also massively increase too.

Graded at a level of 9, it’s clearly an investment for the buyer – who, of course, has the only copy of this card in existence!

3. Topps Chrome UEFA – Eduardo Camavinga 1/5, 2020 ($26,000)

Topps Chrome Card 3 - Eduardo Camavinga

From baseball back to soccer, this 2020 card has the enviable distinction of being rated a perfect 10 when graded by the PSA.

Despite being 1 of 5 copies in the world, there’s almost certainly not another graded at 10, potentially making this particular card a very wise investment.

Currently playing in Spain for Real Madrid at the local level, Eduardo Camavinga has also played for the French national team.

He’s definitely an up and coming star, which seems to be a common theme with the most valuable Topps Chrome cards; collectors likely see the potential for card values to rise, as the players depicted on them develop and become more successful and famous.

There’s no autograph on this card – it’s just a very rare, red refractor variant that ended up selling for $25,999.

 4. Topps Chrome NBA – LeBron James /500, 2003 ($24,000)

Topps Chrome Card 4 - LeBron James

It’s unusual to see older cards on this list, but this is the kind of card that shows exactly why so many others are being snapped up early in the careers of other sportspeople.

The list of accolades and achievements that NBA player LeBron James has received in the last twenty years is pretty astonishing.

So, given his success and popularity, it’s no wonder that his rookie card from 2003 has sold for such a high price!

This particular card isn’t particularly rare when it comes to looking at high valued cards, though there’s still only 500 of these in existence (or at least there were, back when these were printed – the number is likely to be lower by now!).

A black refractor variant card, it’s also been graded especially high given its age, with a rating of 8.5.

This is another card that we’d suspect will just keep rising in value – we wouldn’t be surprised to see it pop up again in a decade and sell for much more than the $24,000 it recently changed hands for!

5. Topps Chrome – Shohei Ohtani Autograph, 2018 ($19,433)

Topps Chrome Card 5 - Shohei Ohtani

Japanese baseball player Shohei Ohtani is also known by his nickname of ‘Shotime’.

It was certainly ‘Shotime’ for one lucky buyer, who got their hands on this autographed Topps Chrome card – though of course they did have to pay quite the premium for it, given that it sold for $19,433!

This card is both autographed and graded at a level of 10, so it’s almost certainly a pretty wise investment by the buyer too.

Like LeBron James, Ohtani is a pretty accomplished player in his sport – with numerous accolades to his name since he debuted in Japan in 2013.

Though his US, MLB debut wasn’t until 2018, Ohtani has still managed to rack up numerous awards – even securing the coveted title of Rookie of the Year.

With this card being from his MLB rookie year too, there’s an extra reason why it’s been valued at $19,400.

6. Topps Chrome – Stephen Curry Autograph, 2009 ($18,000)

Topps Chrome Card 6 - Stephen Curry

Not only is Stephen Curry one of the most successful and popular basketball players of his generation, but this card is even signed in such a way to remind you of that fact!

That’s right, Curry himself has autographed this card – but instead of just a squiggled name, he’s also added the text ‘4 x NBA Champ’ too.

Though graded, this card does only appear to have been assessed for the authenticity of its autograph – though of course, that’s definitely reassuring when the asking price is so high.

Adding to this card’s allure is that it’s from 2009 – the year that Curry began his professional basketball career and joined the Golden State Warriors. This card sold for $18,000.

7. Topps Chrome Future Stars – Shohei Ohtani Autograph, 2019 ($17,700)

Topps Chrome Card 7 - Shohei Ohtani

Yes, here we have another card featuring Japanese baseball superstar, Shohei Ohtani.

Confusingly – given that Ohtani was already an experienced and successful player when this card was released in 2019 – this is from a ‘Future Stars’ set.

This card sold for an impressive $17,700 – with it being a graded, 1/1 card that’s also autographed, it’s perhaps unsurprising that it fetched such a high price!

What may surprise you is that, if we were to expand this list beyond just Chrome cards and featured more than 10 entries, you’d be seeing an awful lot more of Ohtani.

That’s because he appears on some incredibly high value cards, which is a testament to his popularity among baseball fans!

8. Topps Chrome F1 – George Russell Autograph, 2020 ($12,500)

Topps Chrome F1 - George Russell

If you take a look over at our most valuable Topps F1 cards list, you’ll find this exact card in the top spot there!

Though it did sell for a best offer price – the final value of which isn’t something that eBay disclose – we’re pretty confident that it sold for higher than the next entry on this list.

That’s partly because George Russell is a rising star in the world of F1; on our aforementioned list of the most valuable F1 cards, there are three cards featuring Russell.

It was only a list of five cards too, so he’s clearly a driver who collectors believe is destined for big things – and see his cards as a worthy investment at this early stage of his career.

So, what’s special about this particular Topps Chrome card – aside from the George Russell image?

Well, it does have Russell’s autograph for one thing.

For another, it’s also one of just 25 copies of the card in the entire world.

Lastly, given its value, it’s perhaps unsurprising that the seller wisely had the card graded.

With the card graded at PSA level 8, there are no copies of this card currently graded higher – making this quite the collector’s item at $12,500.

9.Topps Chrome Match Attax – Erling Haaland 1/1, 2022 ($10,700)

Topps Chrome Card 9 - Erling Haaland

Despite only being 23 years of age, Erling Haaland has already had a pretty impressive career in football (sorry, US readers: soccer), both at the national and international levels – and it’s not the first time we’ve seen him on this list either, is it?

This 2022 card is a one of a kind – as you might expect, being 1 of 1, it’s incredibly valuable.

Though the best offer facility was used to pay for this card – meaning that the final sale amount isn’t known – it’s still likely to have sold for a significant price, not far off its listed value.

Amazingly – given its value – this card isn’t even autographed, which is what usually pushes card prices into the stratosphere!

Instead, it’s simply the fact that it’s a unique, one-off variant that gives this card its high value.

Though of course, it being graded – and therefore preserved – is also a factor that’ll see this card hold its value, with a high rating of 8.5, priced at $10,700.

10. Topps Chrome UEFA UCC – Lionel Messi Autograph, 2023 ($4,865)

Topps Chrome Card 10 - Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi debuted as a youth player back in the 90s, with his professional, adult football career beginning way back in 2003.

Which is just three years after our previous entry on this list, Erling Haaland, was born (and George Russell would have only been five years old at the time of Messi’s debut!).

So it’s safe to say that Messi is quite the experienced – not to mention incredibly successful – player.

Which means it’s no surprise to see one of his cards being so highly valued – especially as it features his autograph and is one of just 50 copies in the entire world.

What may be surprising is that this particular card isn’t graded – so no doubt its new owner can add to its value by getting it graded themselves!

This card sold for over $4,500.
