Though Fantasy Flight’s commercial and critical hit Star Wars Unlimited has been built from the ground up to support numerous ways to play with minimal fuss and a very simple product range, just like any Trading Card Game (or TCG), it has specific cards that are consistently the most highly sought after in each set.
As a point of comparison, Disney Lorcana has Enchanted cards (check out the full list of those here), which players and collectors alike are desperate to get their hands on, thanks to their spectacular art, textured foil treatment and incredible scarcity. In Lorcana, according to the publisher’s official stats, you can expect to find 1 Enchanted card in roughly every 72 booster packs. Check out our guide to pull rates in Lorcana for more details!
The equivalent card type in Star Wars Unlimited is Showcase cards; just like in Disney Lorcana, they’re beautiful, full art cards with gorgeous foil treatment, and they’re very hard to find. In Star Wars Unlimited, this rare, highly sought after card type is mind-blowingly scarce; you’ll see from our Shadows of the Galaxy pull rates guide that these are found at the rate of approximately 1 in every 288 booster packs!
So with Lorcana, if you pick up three booster boxes, each containing 24 booster packs, you might be lucky enough to find an Enchanted card. In Star Wars Unlimited, that number rises to a frankly shocking level; there’s 1 Showcase card in every 12 booster boxes, on average.

What Types Of Card Can Be Showcase Rare Cards?
You’ll see from the gallery that only Leader cards have the Showcase card treatment. This makes them very easy to spot, though it may be that you mistake a much more common card, the Hyperspace Rare, for a Showcase. So let’s take a look at how you can be certain which card is which!
How Do I Identify Showcase Rare Cards?
In the previous paragraph, we had an image of the Bo-Katan Kryze, Princess In Exile card as a Showcase rare. Above, we have the same card in its Standard and Hyperspace variants.
First up, you’ll note that the art in the above two examples is identical, though the card in the right lacks the same borders as the standard card, on the left. This is ‘extended’ art, rather than ‘alternate’ art; the difference being that Showcase cards will feature different artwork entirely, thus being alternate art.
Hyperspace cards, like the one on the right above, aren’t always foil, either. It’s more common to find a Hyperspace card that isn’t foil, but foil versions do exist of each card!
Lastly, the card numbers on each card can give you some insight as to what you’ve found, too. There are 262 cards in the base set of Shadows of the Galaxy; what that means is that every standard, individual card will show a number out of 262 at the bottom of the card, and you can see all of those in our complete Shadows of the Galaxy card list, which shows the standard art variants of all cards in the set.
For Bo-Katan Kryze, her card number is 012/262. Showcase Rare cards are numbered between 263 to 280 (Bo-Katan’s Showcase card is 274) and all Hyperspace cards start at 281; in her Hyperspace variant, the card number is 291.
Finally, Showcase cards have a unique foil finish, unlike the plainer foil treatment you’ll find on standard and Hyperspace cards.
Are Showcase Rare Cards Valuable?
The short answer is yes! Due to just how difficult it is to find these cards (remember, they’re found in approximately 1 in every 12 booster boxes), they are all incredibly valuable, with each Showcase Rare card selling for hundreds of dollars on average.
