Though pretty much all of the Pokémon: 30th Celebration set had been revealed in advance, there were rumors that a small number of cards remained secret until the set launched. Of course, once eager Pokémon fans the world over got their hands on 30th Celebration booster packs, these cards didn’t remain secret for long! Let’s check out the Pokémon: 30th Celebration RGB Mew cards!
Pokémon’s R, G and B Mew Cards
As you can see above, the RGB Mew cards are garishly colored variants of the titular Pokémon. They’re colored in Red, Green and Blue as an homage to the very first Pokémon video games, with art by YOSHIROTTEN. Not only is the art a reference to the old school games, but the stats on these cards are definitely not competitive by modern standards.
Going by the HP and attack ability, it feels as if they’re retro cards, filtered through a futuristic lens in the present day. Instead of standard card numbering, the cards are designated as R/RGB, G/RGB and B/RGB. However, it’s not the first time that The Pokémon Company have experimented with color-based cards.
If we take a look at the special cards included in dual set, Black Bolt and White Flare, you’ll find two BWR, or Black White Rare, cards. That’s not all; the same sets also included an all-red Victini card, which you can see below!
None of these are as garishly colored as the RGB Mew cards, however, being much more minimalist in nature. It must be said though, that each of the cards featured are textured, with a foil treated finish. So they look much more impressive, and less ugly, in person!
We don’t know how rare the RGB Mew cards are, but they’re rumored to be incredibly scarce. So if you find one, do be sure to check out TCGplayer to find out the card’s current value. Chances are, you will have stumbled upon some real treasure if you find one of these cards in a 30th Celebration booster pack!
