It’s not a new card, with Warstorm Surge having appeared in Magic: The Gathering as far back as Magic 2012. However, the upcoming Marvel promo variant of Warstorm Surge features new and exclusive artwork by Ryan Stegman. More importantly, it won’t be found in any other MTG set. So how do you get hold of it? Let’s find out!

Which Comic Is Bagged With a Copy of Warstorm Surge?

If you want to add the Marvel promo variant of Warstorm Surge to your collection, you’ll need to buy a copy of the Avengers: Armageddon #1 comic. Due to be released on the 3rd of June 2026, it’s available for pre-order at comic book stores worldwide now. Note that the card will only be included only in the first printings of Avengers: Armageddon #1, each copy of which will be polybagged. All first printing copies of Avengers: Armageddon #1, including variant covers, will include the card.

You can check out other variants of Warstorm Surge on TCGplayer. Even the most expensive versions of the card won’t break the bank. Though we’re confident that Avengers: Armaggedon #1 will see a serious sales boost thanks to this promotion, that’ll likely mean that Warstorm Surge will be fairly widely available in this variant, but it’s a great card to add to your MTG collection nonetheless.

Check out our list of the most valuable cards from MTG’s Marvel’s Spider-Man set. Warstorm Surge also appeared as a variant in the Avatar: The Last Airbender MTG set, and we’ve covered the most valuable cards in that set too!
