It’s the end of an era as the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet sets step aside, making room for the Mega Evolution series to replace it. The Scarlet & Violet series for the Pokémon Trading Card Game began in 2023, with the unsurprisingly named Scarlet & Violet set, and there are 15 sets (if you include dual set, Black Bolt and White Flare as individual sets, and we do!) in the Scarlet & Violet series altogether. The first set for Mega Evolution has now been revealed, and is given the same name as the series (as is tradition in the Pokémon TCG), meaning it’s called Mega Evolution. Let’s take a look at the cards in the Mega Evolution set!

Pokémon Mega Evolution Main Set Card Gallery

There are 132 cards in the Mega Evolution set, and the set code (used to identify which set a card is part of) is MEG. You can see this code and the card number on the bottom left, on each card in the gallery below:

Cards which are numbered above the designated number of cards in a set are known as “Secret Rare” cards. For example, in Mega Evolution, the number of cards in the set is shown as 132. However, you can also find Secret Rare cards; the numbers of these start at 132, and end at 188:

What’s New in Mega Evolution?

]We last saw Mega Pokémon in 2016, after they’d been introduced in the XY series in 2013. They’re making a return in Mega Evolution, though they’re now Stage 1 or 2 Pokémon, rather than “MEGA”, which meant that they previously evolved from a Pokémon’s “final” stage into their MEGA forms. It’s also now the case that Mega Pokémon ex are worth 3 Prize Cards when defeated, when in the XY (and Sun & Moon) series they were worth 2 Prize Cards!

There are also more type-specific Trainer cards, such as the Premium Power Pro card shown above. This is an Item card which specifically enhances the attacks of Fighting type Pokémon. It’s another card that’s been previewed, but we have yet to see its card and set number, which is why we haven’t included it in our card gallery yet.

When Was Mega Evolution Released?

The Mega Evolution set for the Pokémon TCG was released on September 26th, 2025.
