As the first Pokémon set of 2025, the demand for Prismatic Evolutions has already surpassed the expectations of The Pokémon Company, with supply struggling to keep up with demand even ahead of its release. With a strong focus on the perennially popular Eevee and its evolved forms (known to Pokémon fans as the “Eeveelutions”), Prismatic Evolutions was always going to be a set that caught the attention of the game’s audience. You’ll also see that the Eeveelutions are the cards that fans are especially keen to get their hands on, as we go through this list of the most wanted cards from Prismatic Evolutions!
Table of Contents
Toggle10. Roaring Moon ex – Special Illustration Rare, 162/131
As if to immediately disprove my point about the Eeveelutions, the card that kicks off our list isn’t an Eevee-related Pokémon at all! Instead, it’s the popular Roaring Moon ex card, which made its debut in 2023, in the Paradox Rift set.
This variant of the card features a stunning, full art illustration by prolific Pokémon artist, Shinji Kanda, and it’s easy to see why collectors want to get hold of this particular Roaring Moon ex. That’s without considering why Roaring Moon ex has been such a popular card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (or TCG) in general, and the reason for that lies in its devastating attack, Frenzied Gouging.
An attack that’s very hard to defend against, Frenzied Gouging immediately Knocks Out the opponent’s Active Pokémon, at the cost of Roaring Moon ex dealing 200 damage to itself. Of course, if Roaring Moon ex finds itself with 200 or less HP, it becomes a decision as to whether or not it’s worth taking itself out of the game to Knock Out the opponent’s Pokémon, but for dealing with a persistent or especially powerful Pokémon immediately, Roaring Moon ex is a fantastic card to have in your Pokémon deck. It’s also both the first and last non-Eevee related card of the 10 featured on this list!
9. Flareon ex – Special Illustration Rare, 146/131
So, here we are with the first of the Eeveelution cards, the Fire type Flareon ex. As a Stellar Pokémon, Flareon ex has a rainbow border and a beautiful, full art illustration of the Pokémon wearing the Stellar Crown.
It also has an attack, Carnelian, which requires three different Energy types to use; this is also a hallmark of Stellar Pokémon. Though they are difficult to use, their attacks can be devastating; Carnelian, for example, deals a huge 280 points of damage, though it’s worth noting that it can’t be used during your next turn after using it.
8. Eevee ex – Special Illustration Rare, 167/131
Next up, we have the Basic Pokémon, Eevee ex; though all other Eeveelutions on this list state that they evolve from Eevee and not Eevee ex, it’s worth noting that this card has the Rainbow DNA ability, allowing it to act as a non-ex version of Eevee for evolution purposes.
Another Stellar Pokémon, Eevee ex has an attack requiring one Fire, one Water, and one Lightning Energy to use; however, it deals 200 damage with no other adverse effects or penalties.
7. Jolteon ex – Special Illustration Rare, 153/131
You’ll have noticed by now that each of the cards on this list has a number that is actually higher than the number of cards in the set. With 131 cards in Prismatic Evolutions, why are all of the card numbers higher than 131?
That’s because they’re what’s known as Secret Rare cards; though variants of each appear within the main set of 131 cards, the alternate art and special foil treated cards are versions which feel extra special to pull from boosters, as they’re much rarer, often have textured foil finishes, and look stunning too.
So the Lightning type Jolteon ex is another, numbered as card 153 of 131. It’s also another Stellar Pokémon, with two attacks; its Stellar-powered attack deals 280 damage for one Fire, one Water and one Lightning energy, and just like Flareon ex, it can’t attack at all on the active player’s following turn.
6. Glaceon ex – Special Illustration Rare, 150/131
The Water type Eeveelution, Glaceon, is an Ice type in the Pokémon video games, distinguishing it from the genuine Water type, Vaporeon. Of course, Ice doesn’t appear as an Energy type in the Pokémon TCG, so the next closest type is Water!
This Glaceon ex has an excellent opportunity for devastating combos all on its own. To explain: its first attack, Frost Bullet, deals 100 damage to the opposing Active Pokémon, as well as 30 damage to one of your opponent’s Benched Pokémon. Then, its Stellar attack, Euclase, can immediately Knock Out an Opponent’s Pokémon which has exactly six damage counters (that’s 60 damage) on it.
After two uses of Frost Bullet, applying three damage counters to an opponent’s Benched Pokémon each time, it can then be Knocked Out completely on the following turn. That’s while dealing 110 damage to the Active Pokémon each time too!
5. Vaporeon ex – Special Illustration Rare, 149/131
My favorite Pokémon in the video games are the Water types, perhaps helped by the fact that my very first Pokémon ever, way back in the ’90s when I played the original Pokémon Blue on the Game Boy, was Squirtle.
So naturally, I have a soft spot for Eevee’s proper Water evolution form, Vaporeon – and it’s clear that Pokémon fans do too, as it makes it to the mid-point of our Prismatic Evolutions most wanted cards list!
Of course, some of the appeal of this card is due to its beautiful, stained glass window-esque illustration, but that’s not the full story. Vaporeon ex is also a very capable card in battle, with its first attack (costing just one Water and one Colorless Energy to use) dealing 60 damage to each of your opponent’s Pokémon ex. Then there’s the Stellar attack, which will sound familiar if you’ve been paying attention to the rest of this list so far: it deals 280 damage, but Vaporeon ex can’t attack at all on your next turn.
4. Espeon ex – Special Illustration Rare, 155/131
Always a firm favorite among fans, Espeon ex in Prismatic Evolutions has an absolutely stunning Special Illustration Rare card, as you can see above.
It’s also a very handy card to have in play, with a typically Psychic type style of messing with your opponent’s Pokémon and frustrating their plans! Even its non-Stellar attack, Psych Out, forces your opponent to discard a card at random from their hand, in addition to its 160 damage dealt to their Active Pokémon.
However, its the Stellar attack, Amazez, which really showcases Espeon ex’s power; though it deals no damage, it devolves each of your opponent’s evolved Pokémon, taking the highest current stage card from each of them and shuffling them back into your opponent’s deck!
3. Leafeon ex – Special Illustration Rare, 144/131
Another beautifully illustrated card (in a list that’s nothing but cards with fantastic, genuinely impressive artwork), Leafeon ex features the Grass type Eeveelution.
Like most other cards on this list, it has a very impressive pair of attacks too; first up is Verdant Storm, which costs just one Grass and one Colorless Energy to use, but deals 60 damage for each Energy card attached to all of your opponent’s Pokémon.
Then of course there’s the Stellar attack; not only does it deal 230 damage, but it also heals 100 damage from each of your Benched Pokémon, making the appeal of this card, beyond its artwork, very obvious indeed!
2. Sylveon ex – Special Illustration Rare, 156/131
The Fairy Energy type was added to the Pokémon TCG in 2013, but was relatively short lived; it was phased out of the game by 2020. It used to be the case that Sylveon cards were Fairy type; however, with its removal, cards such as Sylveon end up as different types in the current game.
So, much like Espeon ex, Sylveon ex is also a Psychic type Pokémon, with attacks that can really ruin any plans your opponent may be formulating. Magical Charm deals 160 damage, but the kicker is that it also reduces the Defending Pokémon’s attacks by 100 HP on their next turn. Angelite, which can’t be used two turns in a row, doesn’t deal damage, but can force your opponent to shuffle two of their Benched Pokémon and all attached cards back into their deck.
1. Umbreon ex – Special Illustration Rare, 161/131
One of the most valuable Pokémon cards in the last few years is one which features Umbreon in VMAX form, pawing playfully at the moon. Nicknamed “Moonbreon,” at the time of writing its current market value sits in the region of $1,500!
So if you’re a Pokémon fan who knows what causes a frenzy among collectors, it’ll be no surprise to see that it’s an Umbreon ex card which is causing the most excitement from the Prismatic Evolutions set. Just like all other Eeveelution cards on this list, Umbreon ex is a Stellar Pokémon, which gives it that striking, rainbow border to frame its beautiful, full card artwork.
Look closer, however, and it becomes even more apparent why Umbreon ex is so sought after, and why it may well see quite a bit of play, following the release of Prismatic Evolutions. Umbreon ex has two attacks; the standard Moon Mirage, which deals 160 damage and leaves the opposing Active Pokémon Confused (check out our guide to status conditions in the Pokémon TCG for more insight), and the Stellar attack, Onyx.
It’s with Onyx that Umbreon ex really does excel; costing one Lightning, one Psychic and one Darkness Energy to use, it deals no damage (and you do have to discard all Energy from Umbreon ex when using it!), but it allows you to immediately take a Prize card. Deployed in a timely manner, this can bring an end to the game without so much as 1 HP of damage being caused!
