On Thursday, February 27th, also known as Pokémon Day, The Pokémon Company announced a new set coming for Pokémon TCG Pocket. The set is called Triumphant Light, and it will be hitting the mobile app on Friday, February 28th. What’s in the set? Let’s take a look!

Pokémon TCG Pocket‘s New Set Is Arceus-Heavy

To begin, many of the rare cards in Triumphant Light are dependent on having an Arceus or Arceus ex on the Bench. At the time of writing, official images of most of the actual cards in the set are nowhere to be seen. Therefore, a textual description of the cards we know will have to suffice for now. However, we do have a picture of the star of the show, Arceus ex.

While we don’t have many of the cards available to display, one card is also very noticeably absent from the current reveals: the base form of Arceus. As a result, we can’t adequately analyze many of the rare Pokémon TCG Pocket cards from Triumphant Light. However, we can tell you a shortlist of some of the named cards in the set:

  • Garchomp ex and its prior evolutions
  • Crobat* and its prior evolutions
  • Raichu*
  • Carnivine*
  • Heatran*
  • Magnezone* and its prior evolutions
  • Tyranitar* and its prior evolutions
  • Leafeon ex (with at least one iteration of Eevee)
  • Glaceon ex
  • Probopass ex and Nosepass
  • Abomasnow*
  • Rotom*
  • Irida (Supporter card)
  • Adaman (Supporter card)

(*: Denotes a card that a Benched Arceus or Arceus ex enhances)

Supporters in Triumphant Light

The Supporter cards we know about, Irina and Adaman, are based after characters from Pokémon Legends: Arceus. These Supporter cards have varying levels of utility:

Adaman
Trainer – Supporter
During your opponent’s next turn, all of your Metal-type Pokémon take -20 damage from attacks from your opponent’s Pokémon.
(You may play only 1 Supporter card during your turn.)

You can measure Adaman’s usefulness against his counterpart, Irina:

Irina
Trainer – Supporter
Heal 40 damage from each of your Pokémon that has any Water Energy attached.
(You may play only 1 Supporter card during your turn.)

The two Supporters have different uses, but ultimately, due to Metal-type’s overall scarcity in the game thus far, Irina wins out. Expect to see this Trainer in Water-type lists alongside Misty in the future. Expect to see Adaman in substantially fewer lists.

All in all, more will be revealed by Friday, February 28th, the release date for Triumphant Light. The shake-ups that this Pokémon TCG Pocket set will contain remain to be seen, but rest assured that we will cover them as they come.
