Riftbound Vendetta Burn cards

The fourth set for Riftbound, Vendetta, introduces several new mechanics, including Flow, Burn and Empower. Let’s take a look at one of them here and find out exactly what it does, and how to use it. Let’s find out how Burn works in Riftbound!

What Does Burn Do in Riftbound?

The Burn keyword is paired with a number, with that number being the number of cards you put from the top of your main deck into the trash when it triggers. So when a Burn 2 is triggered, the target player must place the top 2 cards of their deck in their trash. The Blade Twirler card above, for example, has Burn 1. With the Blade Twirler unit in play, every time it moves a player can be chosen for the Burn 1 effect.

It’s different with the Kennen card above, because as an extra cost to play this card, you also need to take the Burn 2 effect into consideration! Which means that, when you play Kennen, you must put the top 2 cards of your deck in the trash. In this instance, you’re not targeting another player; you have to burn 2 cards from your own deck.

So there you have it. Burn is a very easy to understand mechanic and keyword. It also works very well in conjunction with Flow, another new mechanic that’s introduced in Vendetta. Stay tuned, as we’ll also be covering Flow very shortly!
